So you get no pre-boot video...You need to supply more info than this for a resolution. A picture of the wires your talking about would be a good start.

No signal to monitor

Check all conections between the tower and the screen, make sure all are secure, if no joy, unplug the tower and remove the side panel to see if the graphics card is in securely, maybe take the graphics card out and put it back in again to be sure. If you have another monitor or monitor cable try replacing to see if the situation improves.

Normally, when the monitor is switched on, a blue screen is shown momentarily, with 'acer' right in the middle, before it shows the image that the computer is sending. But now, the screen does not show...

It sounds like either a bad signal input , possibly from a loose plug on the cable from the PC or bent pins on the plug / the video graphics card in the PC/ or the settings on the monitor need adjustment. Use the OSD (On Screen Display)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First check to make sure both ends of the cable from the PC to the monitor are not damaged and are seated good & tight.
If those are fine then unplug both cables from the monitor & leave unplugged for 10 minutes or so to see if the screen has an automatic reset.
If that does not work then use the monitors OSD (On Screen Display) to adjust to default settings. If that does not work, plug the monitor into another known good PC.This will tell you right then if its the monitor or "Your" PC.

ViewSonc VX924 LCD Monitor

Check the information at Viewsonic's website regarding their warranty:

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/warranties/limited-warranty/

If you have your proof-of-purchase and it shows the monitor is less than a year old, it would be covered. You would need to follow the procedure on their website to have the unit repaired or replaced, but it would not be your job to try to fix it.

Is it my monitor or my video card

1.there might be a problem with your signal cable. if one of the pin in the signal cable is open. it might also happens
2.adjust signal cable.
3.Check VGA video card is working properly. unplug the VGA card and Re-plug to its slot. if your mother borad has inbuilt video card. this process cannot be performed
4.Even problem with operating system might also happen.. problem with Video Ram memory
5.if you want to check whether your monitor is ok. just get Cpu Box alone frm friends for a while for a testing.
6. if your monitor have problem then contact service centre.

DVI input on monitor not working

Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.

Check signal message when data cable unplugged. blank screen when data cable plugged

This problem is most likely to be caused by a bent or broken pin on the CRT video cable at the VGA connector, OR, this could also be caused by a damaged VGA connector on the back of the laptop. If neither VGA connector is at fault, the problem could be caused a damaged (kinked) CRT data cable, or internal damage to the VGA connector on the back of the laptop, though I suspect the problem is more likely to be external, and you probably won't have to disassemble the laptop to locate the culprit...
