Question about Canon PIXMA iP1800 Printer
Drivers are fine and installed. I rebooted my Windows 7 Ultimate and I get the same status. I tried a different USB cable with the same results. The computer recognizes the printer but evidently no information is going to the printer. I went into printer properties (mgmt tab) and tried to turn off printer from there to see if the printer can receive instructions from the computer but no go. Please help! My name is Joe.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

there were many instances why the computer says "printer is not responding" either it is not configured correctly. for a start..
try this go to start- printer- right click the desired printer- open up properties- then click print test pages-
if it does print then it should work on all platforms, if it doesnt then you might have installed the wrong drivers.
try this first

Thank you for your promptitude.
Today I solved my problem. Was a cable connection problem. Cable incompatibilit or all 3 cables used before are damaged. Tuday I buy an other new cable and SUCCESS!!!: my computer see de printer ("new hardware found" when attach usb cable) , create virtual usb port, install the drivers (I have the drivers downloaded from the Canon web site) and printer is working fine.
Anyway, thank yow again for your support!

Testimonial: "Should have thought of that. Thanks."
Did you download the latest drivers from the website? It looks like they were posted this month. I would report the issue. It is quite likely there is a compatibility issue. Have you contacted canon at all about this problem? Once I have more information I can try and assist you further.

somehow this is because Win 7 actually does not support all devices. try installing the device using win xp or vista, if it does work then it really has no support for win 7
