Shouldn't be any issues, but you may want to power it up now and then just to blow the carbon out.

I Have a 1993 GEO Prizm that the O/D light is flashing and it starts off I 2nd or 3rd gear.. the codes that was pulled are 26 and 36.. how do I fix this problem?

1.6L or 1.8L? engine.there are 3 engines,
1.6L with one injector and one with 4 and the 1.8L with 4.
and the ecu is different on each.

tell which terminals were jumped. and which lamp flashed?
Corolla - jump DLC terminals TE1 and E1 with a short lead 1

which transaxle.?
A131, A240i, a241h, or A245e, (the e trans is tcm shifted)
The 7AFE engine has the TCM and ECU in same box.
the 1.6L single injector engine runs a pure hydraulic trans.(no TCM)
TCM's engine/trans setups.
the 4speed, has 3 ranges switches, and 3 solenoids. and speed sensors., the MPI engine ecu shifts the transmission the TBI engine does not. MPI has 4 injectors, this your car?

if the OD flashes driving, this means TCM sees errors.
can be bad sensor inputs to the TCM
or bad shifter switch, (really they are sensors too, status switches)
and the TCM can see bad speed sensors.
the TCM can also flash if the solenoids are dead. or transmission slips. (nut shell answers)
IF it skips gears, the TCM may be in limphome, they do that on errors. to protect the transmission for damage.

first, off , prizm is just a toy corolla and those are really corolla

best page on car., but i cant find your codes? are you sure you counted correclty? 26 is too rich running. (fuel ratio) 36 I can not find anywhere, (stumped me)

post vin on car and we can look up what's under the hood.
put xxxx and end of VIN. for privacy.

92 geo metrofuel pump pressure

which engine?
i roll dice 1.0L G10. Suzuki
(25-33 psi)
depends on engine, and test done.
the key pressure and running pressure
the fuel pressure regulator does this.
and leak down test.
the TBI system and MPI work different. the FP reg is quite different
ill not guess what is there. until you say, what engine and EFI
it runs.

the chart below is a start.
its the running pressure i think.
when i do EFI, i do all 5+ tests in the book (FSM)
fuel pressure , run /non run
leak down test.
shut tests.
and the MPI balance test.
but that is how I do it, 100% not just 1 .

line up, of engines.
1.0 L LP2 I3 suz, G10 actual 25-31 PSI

1.3 L L72 I4

1.3 L LY8 16-valve I4

Can you replace a 4.6 with a 5.0 in a 2003 mountaineer.

i would be very careful about changing these engines as they are from different series model , the 5ltr 1st gen , 4.6 ltr 2nd gen ,the 1st gen used 3 different chassis the 2nd gen only 1 so there may be a mismatch with the mountings , pipe routing etc, the 5ltr is a 'windsor v8 ' which will take up more room in the engine compartment and you have to be certain that the windsor v8 comes from a mountaineer as they were used in other vehicle's and will have differences , but if you like a challenge and don't mind doing a bit of research go for it , but don't expect it to just drop in and all will be in the right place first time ,keep me posted cheers steve

Gas injector spray gas all time cylinder 2 and 5 when you open ignition

92 kick. (there is no cylinder 5, sorry) it's a 4 banger. all are. that year.
must be the G16b engine. 16valve MPI engine, 1.6Liters.
open ignition?
on this car, the injectors fire about 3 to 5 milliseconds at idle.
3/1000'th of a second, only.
if they stick on, that is caused by the following
why not connect a NOID lamp to each feed wire to injector
and see what it is doing.??????
http://www.fixkick.com/INJECTORS/injectors.html#NOID
1: injector leaks.
2: fuel pressure way over 60psi and inject can hold it back.
3: ECU is stuck , bad injectors driver in ECU shorted.
in case 3 the noid lamp glows key on., steady.
4: the FSM stated injector balance test will fail.
5: the FSM stated injector leak down test fill fail.

these tests are the same for all MPI based engines.

http://www.fixkick.com/INJECTORS/injectors.html

connect noid,
key on,
the noid that glows, shows what ECU line is stuck low.
stuck low can be , bad wire or bad ECU, only.

if the noid test passes.
that is.
not stuck on
and as you crank the lamp flashes same on all 4 MPI harness connectors (injector feeds) then the electric side is good.
and the fuel side is bad.
if key on fuel pressure is near 30psi (see pump page same site)
then the injector is bad,
see link for pro $20 cleaning company.

bad fuse.

Vehicle is started while in neutral then is engaged to first gear and this is when the vehicle die

I must assume the car is a A/T automatic transmission?
Ok this is called stalling.
the one key fact is missing, can the fast right foot , make the car
drive fast up hills. that is you prevent the stall and drive.?
lacking this fact, makes all below too long........

the 95 sidekicks cam with 2 engines.
one is TBI 8v and other is 16v MPI, the repair is totally different on these cars, due to vastly different EFI systems.

so i will answer in the generic , lacking these facts.
1: idle speed controls dead.
2: engine problems, (low compression)
3: never ever tuned up? never did the 60,000 mile service.?
4: same as #3 timing belt slipped,
5: spark parts never replaced. plugs, wires ,cap, and rotor.?
6: weak fuel pressure do to never changing the fuel filter ever.
7: clogged injectors.
8: if MPI engine, huge air leaks in the induction (from behind the MAF all the way to the intake valves.. bad news on MPI , air leaks.
aka: vacuum leaks.
just a short list. for now.
got tool;s?

Tuneup 1995 ford falcon

Australian car model????? which one, EA to EL?
to get help first post model, then engine displacement
the EFI type. (MPI SPI CFI, etc) each work totally different)

on most EFI cars there is no adjustment.
In fact , idle speed controls are top EFI feature) it will work hard
to hold hot idle at about 800rpm on most cars (IAC electric)
(some have factory adj. but do not mess with that)
you could read the FSM ,it covers this.
most cars this long in tooth the IAC is toast, so the owners
hack in idle fixes. are you a fixer or hacker.?
a fixer is one who finds a good part and actually fixes car or cleans it.

why not post a symptom. ???
got high idle hot.?
got too low.?
name RPM count,, 1000? 1500, 800 is correct hot.

EFI systems, idle controls work last. all else must work right first.
IAC controls fail when other things are grossly bad. we fix those first.

what engines? got MPI, multipoint? got CFI?
comprised three straight-six engines: the short-lived, CFI 3.2-litre, a 3.9-litre, as well as a 3.9-litre multi-point.
The 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder (EL?)

great post, never seen a falcon since, 1960, (those sucked)

1991 tracker with a 1.6. has a miss when running. when up to speed and holding at a steady speed miss gets worse. drove for about an hour and started cutting out very bad lost speed, power. converter red...

Do a compression test of the engine. See if your valves are seating properly is what you'd be looking for in checking for low compression. It could be causing the miss. When you changed plugs, did any one plug stand out as being different in color or texture at its base? The constant miss might put black sooty deposits on the spark plug. Course you'd have to remember which cylinder that plug came from to help you locate the miss. I'm assuming you have throttle body injection?

I had a reconditioned steering box fitted recently and it has worked fine intil now. Only after a night of frost after starting the engine, the stering feels stiff, jerks a bit and then works fine. No...

I suggest flushing the system. Before doing that collect a 5ltr or 5gallon container of ATF formulated to operate at low temperatures....The problem could be water contamination in the fluid.... If this is so, the water may be freezing over night and forming ice....This can damage the pump and possibly the box too....
Keep in mind that the fluid will be pumped out from the system very quickly and therefore you should refill at the same rate....Never let the system run dry during this operation
  • Locate the return pipe (the low pressure pipe which connects to the reservoir from the steering box)
  • Disconnect from the reservoir and attach a tight fitting pipe to allow fluid to be drained into a separate container.
  • Have someone inside the vehicle to start and stop the engine
  • Start the engine and fill ATF into the steering reservoir as the fluid drains into the catchment container.
  • Flush until the fluid runs clean.
  • Stop the engine.
  • Refit the pipe.
  • Check for leakage.
  • You're done!
