Explorer 230 went into solid blue light the second time I used it. Fixed mine by letting the headset go completely dead and re-charged and it appears to work fine now.

It sounds like you're still in pairing mode (and not paired) if the light is flashing white/red. Take a look at the following link on pairing instructions:
Plantronics Discovery 975 Pairing
If it continued to flash white/red and not pair, you may have a defective unit. Contact where you purchased the unit for a replacement or call Plantronics at 1-800-544-4660 x 5538.

If this is not charging correctly it may be that the battery is no
longer functioning properly. The batteries are non replaceable on this
headset. If this is still under warranty (1year) you should be able to
get a replacement
