Hello Robert;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You are not going to get an answer to your question because you did not provide a model number. Your model number is on a label on the upper inside wall of your fresh food section.

Your defrost timer may be mechanical or built into your main control board.

You may have a bad defrost heater or just a frozen drain.

Large Ice Build up on top inside back of fridge unit.

Could be the auto-defrost has stopped working. Most modern frost-free fridges have a heating element behind the liner where the cooling element is and the ice forms. Between the thermostat controlled periods of cooling the heating element should switch on for a short time to melt any ice that has formed and the resulting water forms into droplets that roll down the fridge liner until it is channelled into a drain leading to a tray mounted on the electric motor. The warmth from the motor evaporates the water and completes the maintenance-free frost-free system.

Possibilities are faulty wiring/connections, defrost timer, defrost element.

The defrost timer could be integral with the thermostat.

Some older fridges had a manual switch to start the defrost process.

Fridge and freezer stopped working but fridge light still on should the orange switch by the light be on or off don't know if that is the defrost button

Sounds like a motherboard or defrost control board. Can you tell me the model number found inside the fresh food compartment or around fresh food section door frame, Without the model number it is hard to guess what the switch is that you are asking about, Thanks Sea Breeze

Had a fridge freezer in garage. Just found that

more than likely the defroster inside the freezer has gone bad. This defroster is located in the space between the fridge and freezer and activates to defrost the freezer and stop build up of ice in the freezer.. If it is bad the freezer will not keep the fridge nor freezer cold.

My evaporator fan dont work on my fridge

You may need to advance your timer so you fridge will start cooling. If it's in defrost neither will work because the defrost thermostst has to be cold enough to close the switch inside it.

Freezer cold, fridge warm

Hi, You have a self defrosting problem.
Remove the rear inside freezer panel and check continuity on the defrost element and bi-metal switch. The bi-metal has to be tested cold. If there is continuity on both parts, you will need to change the defrost timer.
The most common part that goes bad is the element. I hope this helps you. Please leet me know if I can assist you further.

- fridge not working following defrost

Usually once defrosted, the unit just runs again, with nothing else needing to be done. If there is a fan inside the refrigerator, make sure it operates when the door is closed (manually depress the door switch.).

Check the door gasket as well to make sure it is in good condition.

I can't get my fridge to turn back on after defrosting it.

Check the defrost timer.

The defrost timer could have automatically cycled to the defrost mode which means it should come back on in 15-20 min. If it doesn't then the timer could be stuck in the defrost mode.

Liebherr frost free fridge/freezer

Try these solutions in these order:
1. Switch off the fridge and leave the door open overnight. Switch it back on in the morning.
Explanation: The sensor inside the fridge gets frozen and cannot control the temperature properly.
2. Switch off the fridge. Unplug it. At the back of the fridge (behind the unit, not inside) there is a large grid. Clean it with a hoover thoroughly. Open the fridge. Dry the back of the fridge if wet (inside the fridge). If frosted wait for it to defrost and then dry it. Plug in the fridge. Switch the fridge back on. This one worked for me.
Explanation: The dust in the grid deprives the fridge from cooling down and the unit can't control the temperature in the fridge section.
3. Switch off the fridge. -Unplug it. Empty it. Turn it upside down. Plug it in. Switch it on for 24 hours. Switch it off. Unplug, return to normal and switch on.
Explanation: This has to do with the pressure of the gas inside the compressor. I have not tried it but this advice as given to me by a qualified electrician when I commented the (in)famous F2 problem in Liebherr fridge/freezers.
Hope it helps. Regards. Albert
