Question about Kenmore Kitchen Ranges
I think one thing that happens especially with a black top the heat from the burners when pots and pans are used spreads down onto the burner section and because its black it is hotter than a white top. I think you will find the color itself is burnt and not just dirty.. In asking some one they feel I am right and there is no way it will look new again. Looks nice for a while but not for long. Sorry

Soak the black stove caps in 1 part ammonia and 3 parts water. Let soak for several hours. I let it soak overnight. It should clean right up.

salt and grease get baked to the stainles steel
most scrub to get clean
very quickly this dulls and eventuly wears the steel and it looks drab
the enamel will alwsys look good

use on stainless steel- 3M 7447 pads get at auto parts store or more aggressive 180 grit sandpaper going with the grain of course. For daily cleaning use DeBruce Polish, it is non-toxic and odorless. DeBruce polish is also non-abrasive, also use DeBruce Polish on glass/ceramic cook tops. We get DeBruce Polish at debrucepolish.com

use caustic soda power mixed with water and wallpater paste so its a thin jelly . apply with a brush and leave over night . rince with warm water on a clean cloth. use rubber gloves and glasses for protection
500g caustic powder
2 pints water
add wallpaper paste powder little at a time till jelly like
