First make a measure on the cable it could be broken on the cable-fixation , replace or shorten the cable. if that was not the cause then it could be one of the 2 coils could be damaged of the stator field-magnet. this happend by a defect cable a stuttering vein inside the cable if the machine is open remove first always the interference suppression capacitor only if its parallel with the switch this capacitors are useless are often broken for the time that it is used it prevents a fuse in mains , you could make a measure between the last posibillity is the L+R /or in the main switch.
If you repair it use a lamp with the mains connected in serial (not parallel) because of simply to fuse it when its a old machine or there is something more with the tool on the ancre that could be also the couse of a damaged machine.

Ok about changing the brushes but have you searched if the place where the brushes are located allow the brushes to move forward freely or they are in a way were narrowed so that the brushes can only move for few millimeters?

How to dismantle a makita HP electrical hammer drill, want to replace the brushes

Check out the split drawing on this page.
If your makita does not have any outside accessible brush caps, you need to dismantle it.
lay it on the side, where the side with the screws securing the to halves together is facing up.
Remove all screws (some may be hidden under labels etc.) Gently pry the halves apart, locate the brushes disconnect their leads if any, and remove. Install new brushes and make sure the move freely, and that they are springloaded when in place. Gently rotate the rotor to ensure everything is ok . Reassemble and test drill. If the brushes leaves long streaks of noticeably large sparks, something has gone wrong or the rotor was damaged in the first place, causing excessive wear.

How do i change the brushes in my drill

I don't think it is the brushes, I would check the cord, they bend and break inside the insulation where you can't see it. You have to take it apart, get a volt meter and check the wires for continuity and if they are ok, then get the brushes out, they are right there too, take them to the hardware store and match them up. You can try plugging it in again and bending the cord around at both ends to see if it jumps. Hope this helps.

Fixing the springs to the carbon brushers to a 24v battery bosch drill

The brushes come as an assembly with the spring and brush in one unit. If your springs are bad you can order a set of brushes. The part number is 2607034901 and they run around $6.50. If your springs are melted looking there may be an underlying problem with the motor, mainly that there is a short in the motor or even switch. If the brushes are just worn and not touching the commutator bars then it is safe to just replace the brush set and you should be ok. Any questions please post back.

Unscrew the brushes and take a look at them. It sounds like you need new brushes.
