Question about Vacuums
Posted by Anonymous on
Hi, this is Jim with Crucial Vacuum,
There are two reasons why your vacuums brush roll isn't turning anymore. Either it is clogged and is unable to turn. In this case remove any noticeable debris, then rotate the brush roll manually to unearth any hidden clogs behind it.
Two, the belt is no longer wrapped around the brush roll correctly. This is not allowing the brush roll to rotate properly. After usage the belt will stretch out and lessen the tension on the brush roll. This could be causing the brush roll to have a lack of resistance against it. You want to be sure the belt is on there nice and tight. You're going to want to change your vacuums belt every 3 to 6 months depending on use.
You can purchase a wide variety of replacement belts and brush rolls directly from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10
I hope this was helpful. If you would like further assistance, please feel free to give us a call at 877.750.9239. We have helpful and friendly customer care representatives on the line ready to assist you.

It sounds as if: -
Turn over the vacuum and look at the brush. Can you turn it by hand? If yes, the belt has either broken or slipped off. You could buy a replacement part and fit it yourself if you are handy with a screwdriver or take it to a local vacuum repair shop. It should take less than an hour to fix.
Turn over the vacuum and look at the brush. Can you turn it by hand? If No, then check the ends of the brush where it sits in the body of the vacuum. Are there fibres or hairs sticking out at either end?
You will need to remove these hairs and fibres until the brush rotates with some resistance.
Hope this gives you some place to start.
