Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

When were these machines manufactured?

I received this machine because someone was going to throw out her mothers pride and joy. I have an embroidery machine of my own. I want to see it go to good use.

So, it's a Necchi 522. I did some research online and found this blog about Necchis.

    Vintage Sewing Machines

If it was made in Italy it is very highly coveted. Unfortunately, Necchi outsourced them to Japan and Taiwan and those models are not as well regarded. Make Your Own Gear Anybody use Necchi sewing machine BackpackingLight com... I also found another conversation indicating that someone had purchased a 522 new in 1985.

If you have a Facebook account, you can probably join this group and get more answers about your machine:

You can also download a Necchi List here: NECCHI MODEL LIST Free Necchi Sewing Machine Files download

I hope this helps you in your research.

I also inherited an old Necchi (don't know the model right now) but I do know it's had lots of miles put on it, it's entirely metal, and it will sew just about anything I put through it including leather. The only thing that bugs me about it is that the needle is in the right position for regular sewing whereas all my other machines' needles are centered.

My Bernini 830 would not recognize the embroidery attachment. I re-attached many times, but it doesn't work.

I assume you mean a Bernina 830. If you have removed the slide-on table, I have two possible solutions. I've seen this with a couple of Viking embroidery attachment units. (I am also assuming it's not a hoop issue.)

You could have corrosion on the pins that send the signals between the embroidery attachment and the sewing machine. Remove the embroidery attachment and turn off the sewing machine. Unplug the sewing machine. Spray the pins with an electronic contact cleaner; one example is here: . Push the embroidery attachment into the sewing machine by lifting up the far side and then sliding it into the port. Remove the embroidery attachment. Repeat this a few times. (The friction of the insertion and removal will remove any dirt or corrosion.) Plug in the sewing machine and turn it on. Try connecting the embroidery attachment. If it works, remember to clean the contacts the next time the embroidery attachment isn't recognized.

Once I helped someone with two sewing/embroidery machines with an unrecognized embroidery attachment. In that case, the person swapped which embroidery unit went with which machine. The contacts were not the same and didn't mate. Once the correct machine and embroidery unit were paired, the embroidery unit was recognized instantly.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't, you may need to talk to your Bernina repair technician at your local shop.

Problem with panelboard on New Home Memory Craft 800. Need a telephone number or address for repair. Mother's Daughter

This panel must be rebuilt before it will work properly. Unfortunately, it must be sent to Janome Corp. the manufacturer of this machine and they will only deal with their authorized dealers..Find a local authorized Dealer by going to ( and look at the Dealer Locater.
This repair is probably going to cost more than $300 and all the covers have to come offthe machine to remove this panel. Have them service it at the same time. It shouldn't cost that much more.
This is a good machine and if you really don't need BIG embroidery then there's no reason to trade it in.

I am trying to embroider something for the first time on my viking #1 husqvarna. Do I need presser foot Q/ or R/ .If it's R,I can't find it-what does it look like? I need someone to walk me thru the steps...

embroider on #1+:
If it's a #1+ I recommend the Q (the spring works better) it's hard to put on, but worth it.
Here we go:
1>Turn off machine (always when installing or removing embroidery unit)
2>Install Q Foot. Always leave presser foot pressure (on left end of machine) at 6 for presser foot Q
3>Insert Embroidery Card
4>Insert Embroidery cassette (matching #’s with card)
5>turn on machine
6>Turn on embroidery unit (on cassette)
7>Select design
7>Thread for color 1
8>press reverse to start the machine embroidering....weeeeeeeee!

Will a Husqvarna #1 Plus embroidery unit work on a Husqvarna Rose machine?

I am sorry to inform you that Husqvarna # 1 embroidery unit does not fit onto the Rose machine. The terminals on the Rose is upright, while on the H # 1 it is flat. If you want to do embroidery on the Rose, you will have to purchase the embroidery unit.

Sad but true
