Where can I purchase replacement blades?

Hi Jim, you can buy replacement blades for your riding mower at most hardware, or lawn and garden store. I believe Sears home and garden has them also. They are the same as a regular push mower blade, but smaller because you have 2-3 blades. I'll put a link to help you out. All you really need is the model of your mower, and blade length.

Yardman troubleshooting

More than likely the bearings on the mower deck that your lawnmower blades bolt to are seized or are close to it .Disconnect the negative battery cable from battery before you get anywhere near the underside where the blades do there business. Better yet, remove battery completely, and have it tested at AUTOZONE for free. While battery is out , check free spin of deck blades. Any resistance or grinding while blades are disengaged >debris , fence wire , rope tarp, etc.. or bearing failure. [DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS INJURY, I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING IT TO BE CHECKED AT INDY SHOP. ... ALTHOUGH COMMON SENSE WILL GO FAR IF YER MECHANICALLY INCLINED. .. YOU TUBES VIDS ARE A GOOD STARTING POINT. NOTE:BEARINGS CAN BE REPLACED,, WHEREAS A HAND OR A FOOT ...AINT AS EASY. Good luck

Loss of power when blades engaded.

Remove deck belt from blade pulleys and Tri to spin blades by hand. If they don't spin freely, you probably need new spindle bearings but if you do need a new spindle I would replace the whole spindle housing... Just make sure the one (s) you buy has housing, spindle, bearings, nut and washer.

Hi, I have an older Murray ride on mower, small

Sounds like you have some sort of seize up problem in your deck assembly. Have someone help you with this check, start your engine, engage the blade or blades, and have someone watch the shoot from a distance to see if blade or blades turn. if not then your problem is in the area of top pulley and blade or blades. You may need to replace or loosen the pulley to blade shaft. Sometimes this part is repairable where you can replace bearings or bushings and sometimes the whole unit needs to be replaced. Look to see if there are grease fittings on this unit. Try oil anywhere it will flow down in between areas that may be seized and work on loosening up the pulley blade assembly.
If this doesn't help, go to some of your local mower repair shops, they may be able to sell you a used part. Remember to bring mower information with you so they can help you with the correct part.
I hope this has been helpful to you. GOOD LUCK.

MTD bsgger/Mower 21 self propelled only number 1183AC.Need part that mower blade is attached to then to drive shaft. Can't find

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

The part your looking for is called the BLADE ADAPTER. The part number should be: 753-0588

These are available at most any lawnmower repair / parts store. If you walk in woith what is left of your old one they can sell you an exact replacement. I am kind of old school when it comes to blade adapters. I always match old with the new before I buy them. I have been burned too many times from on line sites mainly with blade adapters. Most anything else available on the net is fine.

Here is a whole page of adapters:

Thanks for using FixYa.
