Hello Elisabeth;

My Name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

1.) You do not have a bad door seal. If you had a bad door seal you would have condensate or frost on the front area of the liner wall

2.) Reasons for the water:

a.) If you have a top freezer you may have a frozen drain. You unit will go through a defrost cycle every 8-10 hours, where everything will shut down except for the light. At this time your defrost heater will turn on for 20-30 minutes. Thereafter your unit will turn back on.

If you have a frozen drain then the defrost condensate (Water) has no where to go except down the air vents in the back to your fresh food section.

b.) Inspect your freezer for ice on the bottom.

You did not provide a model number which is located on a label on the inside wall near the top of your fresh food section. So, I can not tell you anything about what you have.

Check the door seal for a snug fit all around. Water inside is usually contact with warm outside air. Or you have something inside generating water vapour.

Clear water at base of fridge

When the hose, where the water should flow out, is blocked, the water can come into the fridge. The cooling part should be between 5 an 7 degrees Celsius. I don't know what that is in Farenheid, but somewhere around 40. The freezer, depends on the starts, but 3 4 and 5 stars should be at -18 Celsius. lower will cost extra power and does not add anything to the quality of the food. Higher then -18 ( so -17 -16 and so on) will have impact on the time you can keep food in the freezer. The quality will decrease faster.

Look where the water should leave the inside, somewhere under the cooling element. Check if or what is blocking it.

GE fridge is leaking water at the base of the unit right, can't figure out why

it seems as if you fridge's water line has been blocked or damage from in between so you need to get your fridge 's back panel opened and see if it is so, because the water is getting inside the body of fridge and it is getting rusted

My freezer is freezing food fine but my refrigerator seems to be warm and not cooling like it should. The temp control has been adjusted to a higher setting but does not seem to help.

if your freezer is working your fridge is fine
Your problem probably started a couple weeks ago when the drain that allows defrosted ice (water) to drain into the drain pan at the base of your fridge became plugged for some reason. Then everytime the fridge went on defrost more water melted but did not drain which in turn froze. Now ice has built up and caused the air that flows into the fridge to be blocked, causing a warm fridge.... my advice is to leave fridge unplugged for 48 hrs to thaw it and find the cause of the water not to drain... could be a corn niblet or pea from the freezer... the tube should be visible from the inside or the back

Water leaking from front base of freezer

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section underneath the evaporator coil. Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

what might be happening is that the drain hole for condensate is blocked causing water to gather beneath the crisper. look for a channel under the evaporator (the icy cold part) and there should be a drain hole some where near check this is not blocked.

Water dripping inside fridge

Check the freezer compartment for snow on back wall or base, If it is a frost free unit it may have a frozen cooling coil which would stop air circulation. Condensed water can be cause by same problem.

the drain hole is blocked in the bottom of the fridge. if the water is not able to drain down the hole it will overflow into the fridge base. check any holes at the inside back of the fridge.
