SOS!!! I just got my hands on this super old whirlpool called an imperial seventy. I'm pretty sure it's from the 70's lol. Just used it for the first time today and it took FOREVER to dry anything! It turned on it spun it seemingly worked and it warmed the clothes but it didn't dry the clothes. I finally got one load dry then threw my towels back in for the 5th go round. It seemed to work better when I switched it to the automatic regular setting instead of the timed drying I was using. Please tell me there's an easy fix to make it dry my clothes. THANK YOU!!!!

SOURCE: We have a Whirlpool Imperial 8 cycle 5 temp

The first thing I would check is to make sure the vent hose is clear of lint. An exaust full of lint will cause the problem you are talking about.
Most of the time either the heater coil is working or it is not working.
If after you make sure the machine, and hose is clear of lint and it still does not dry then I recommend the following:

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Remove the back of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistor.
Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST. This could cause a fire, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
Hope this helps

not a problem with the unit, you have a clogged vent. its generating the heat your e not exhausting the heat properly ck behind the unit for kink, perhaps the outside exhaust hood has a screen thats clogged. dont know where its located but if feasible disconnect the dryer vent and try running a cycle . bet it runs a lot quicker... CLEAN YOUR VENT ITS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD!!!!!

SOURCE: THE AUTOMATIC SETTINGS ON THE

This dryer has a sick timer. Not a bad timer mind you. A sick one. Get the timer out of the machine. It ain't hard to wire because of the quick connects. Take the 2 main screws out the timer motor and carefully take the timer apart. Get a file and clean the leaf switch contacts. Put it all back together and party on. OR Replace the timer and spend some money. LOL

SOURCE: My Whirlpool dryer tumbles but no heat. The clothes dry after along period of time and that is when i finally feel some heat.

Probably needs a good cleaning. If it was me I would remove the filter housing and do a through cleanup. make sure the vent going outside is not blocked. The dryer must have adequate airflow to work well.

WHICH IS THE BEST DEEP FRYER. VULCAN 70 LB NAT GAS OR AVANTCO 70-100 LB

Vulcan, however there are other brands that are better than both of those...Keating is one and Imperial is another. There is a pretty big price difference also. The Keating is the most expensive, but also the best of the bunch.... If you need additional pricing, please call us at 888-542-5959. Whirlpool Imperial seventy dryer does not heat up

If there is a copper line feeding gas to it, PULL THE DRYER WAY FROM THE WALL AND TURN THE GAS OFF AT THE VALVE IMMEDIATELY!

Natural gas and copper do not mix, and the copper line will corrode from the inside out.

Now, on to the problem, it's very likely the timer has failed IF it does not rotate all the way through the drying cycle. If it does, and the clothes do not heat up, then reply back what you are experiencing and I will give you move help.

My whirlpool imperial seventy dryer timer quit working when the heating element was replaced and now the dryer quit turning on at all, makes a clicking noise when you turn it on and that's all

I have the same dryer and it did the same thing to me. It ended up being the thermal switch and a frozen drum and belt due to excessive lint. Had to pay $190 to fix it, not sure if this is something that can be self repaired.
