Most felt seals are glued in with a hi temp glue. Without seeing it I can't be sure but I think the drum has to come out to fix it properly. The glue can be purchased from most parts suppliers and sometimes comes with the new seal.

How do I replace the drum felt seal

You have to lift the top of the dryer. Be sure to remove the 2 screws holding the lint shute to the top first. Then you have to find and remove screws holding the front door and surround and remove them. This lets you pull the front side assemby forward giving you access to the front of the drum and felt seal. Be careful as the drum will be free and want to fall off the back rollers. This way is also used to replace the drum pulley.

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. Clothes getting stuck in front of dryer the model wasn't listed below mode is LDE8404ACE

If your clothes are getting stuck in the front of the dryer, it could mean more than one thing.
Your front felt seal is faulty, broken, or out of position.
After years of use, the front felt seal on the dryers break down, come loose, or become faulty. It is also sometimes caused by wear in the drum rollers, and this causes the felt seal to become worn.
You will need to replace the front felt seal and possibly the drum rollers.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS

If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum, felt seal and belt. It is a good time to check and replace the felt seal. You could stop there but I recommend that you do the following:
Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they are worn or have flat spots on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots on them and is not worn, then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Good Luck,
I hope this helps

I'm finding pinholes in my clothing.

I'd be more suspicious of what you're putting through the wash, rather than the machine.

Whirlpool duet dryer felt seal replacement

The drum may to be removed to install the new felt gasket but the old drum can then be reinstalled. The felt gasket seals the joint where the drum rotates at the inside back panel. It is likely that the inside back panel can be removed when the dryer is placed front-down and the outside back panel is removed. In that case the drum does not have to come out.

Felt belt hanging above dryer door

it sounds like the front drum seal, this is what the drum runs on and seals the surround for fluff ingress. if it is hanging down then it is damaged and will need replacing which will be a partial machine stripdown.
