MAY HAVE A BAD START RELAY OR CAPACITOR ON THE COMPRESSOR , CAN BUY A INEXSPENSIVE 3 IN 1 HARDSTART KIT AND BY PASS THEM , NOT THAT HARD TO DO, COMES WITH INSTRUCTIONS> BY THE WAY DO U HEAR ANY CLICKING SOUNDS FROM COMPRESSOR? BUT U MAY ALSO WANT TO CHECK UR COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT IF IT GOES BAD U MAY GET A NON START ALSO HAVE IT CHECKED FOR PROPER VOLTAGE AND OHMS RESISTANCE WHEN IN THE ON POSITION
A BAD DEFROST TIMER CAN SHUT DOWN COMPRESSOR HAVE IT CHECKED WITH MULTI METER.

to check the defrost timer, u can get by and test manually by placing a small screw driver into the tiny slot or hole underneath the timer and turn slowly clockwise till u hear 1 click. this will engage ur defrost cycle in about 15 minutes u should be able to come back and feel the heat in freezer as it melts the ice providing ur terminator is not bad?
Another way to test it is with a multi meter. Remove timer it from fridge and you will see 4 prongs numbered 2,1,4,3 in that order. Place ur meter prong on prong 1 & 3 (if your fridge has a capacitor wired in series with the windings, then u check for micro fares rather than OHMS) If u cannot confirm this test, still try the next.
Take ur meter prong and connect to prong 1 & 4, it should read resistance or ohms ( closed) now remove prongs and place on prong 1 & 2, this should now read infinity or open (no ohms) now take a small screwdriver place it in the tiny hole or slot under the timer. Turn it clockwise slowly till u hear 1 click. Now ur 1& 2 should read closed ( showing ohms or resistance) now place meter prongs on 1 & 4 and you it should now show open ( or no resistance - no ohms) this is how u know ur timer is good, Remember when testing for ohms ADJUST meter to use a high ohms rating in the thousands as the resistance is very high in OHMS. And adjusting to low ohms rating may give a false reading or not show the proper resistance..

AT TIMES YOU MAY HEAR THE COMPRESSOR CLICK OFF AND ON OVER AND OVER. Signs of a bad start relay or capacitor. Check with an OHMS meter for continuity (ohms) and voltage, capacitor can be checked for Microfares.
To check ur compressor with multi meter:
Disconnect and remove the relay and capacitor from compressor, somes located next to compressor in a casing.

You wills see 3 prongs coming out of compressor. 1 goes to ur srtart winding, 1 goes to ur run winding and the center goes to ur ground.

Place ur meter connector or prong on the start prong and the other on the ground (center prong) take note of the reading in OHMS for example 5 ohms.
Next place meter prong on run prong and the center ground prong agin. Take note of the reading in OHMS. Example 4 ohms

Next place meter prong on the start prong and the other on the run prong, now take note of the reading example 9 ohms. Now match the total of this ohms test with the total of ur two separate test. 9 ohms, if they match ur ok give or take 5 percent plus or minus. One more test to make to test of there is a short in compressor attach meter prong to ground prong and rub the other end of meter prong to metal ( scrape the metal clean of paint and test on metal surface not painted surface. If it shows continuity or ohms , u have a short in ur compressor. It should show infinity

I believe that because defrost is done by the mother control board this is why this is happening the part of the board that controls defrost is malfunctioning and the only way to resolve the problem is to replace the mother board part number WR55X10656 You can find the replacement board at these places below. The problem you describe is due to defrost. Is due to one posible reason.
This is the defrost thermostat is bad and does not switch off defrost heater when reach maximum temp thus leave the heater keep heating thus you have high temperatures after defrost. During the whole day the fridge is working normal and reach the proper temperature.
The defrost thermostat is located on the evaporator coil and is connected in seies with defrost heater.
We have here the parts diagram of your model but the parts list is not complete like other models, however it can be of a very good help.

Bottom freezer stopped working, then started working. Would this be a problem with the thermostat or blower fan? During this period refrigerator half had no problems.

Hello Steve:

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
You do not have a problem. It sounds like your refrigerator is running normally.
Your compressor and fans will run based on the cooling demands set by you on your temperature settings. Once the temperature has been reached your compressor or fans will stop running.
If your compressor is running all of the time then you have a cooling problem.
You refrigerator will also shut down about every 8-10 hours for about 15-20 minutes. This is when your refrigerator goes into the defrost mode. Your refrigerator shuts down and the heater around the cooling coil turns on to defrost the cooling coil. This is where the term; "Frost Free", comes from.

Chest freezer suddenly stops working then will start again later

This is normal if your freezer is in good working condition. If your compressor runs constantly then there is a problem. Once the unit reaches the set temperature the compressor shuts down. The set temperature should be between -2 & +2 degree F. The set temperature also depends on how full the freezer is. There will be a time when the freezer like refrigerators will shut down. This is relative to the term, "Frost Free". The unit will shut down for about 10 minutes. This occurs ever 8-10 hours. The heater turns on to defrost your freezer coil. It sounds like you are in good shape.

Refrigerator problem

Hello , this is JK. I understand that you are experiencing a concern with the refrigerator cooling. Have you cleaned the condenser in the last 4-6 months? Gently place your hand on the static condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator. Are the coils room temperature or warm? Room temperature air usually means that the compressor or sealed system is not removing the heat from the cabinet. This could mean that the there is a sealed system leak, overloaded relay or a faulty compressor. Warm air means that the compressor is operating correctly and the sealed system is removing the heat from the cabinet. Are the controls set to the right setting? If you see that they are set correctly, consider activating the defrost. The compressor will shut off, wait five minutes and look through the grille in the freezer for a red glow of the defrost heater. If you do not see a red glow you may need to reach out to a professional technician. Hope this helps!

Not cooling

Check if compressor is starting and the click start of the compressor starting. After that refrigerator should have humming vibration. If yes then check the thermistor or replace THERMISTOR. Actually thermistor's job is to sense the cooling temperature. If THERMISTOR is faulty then ice formation will not happen. Once desired temperature reaches then thermistor activates relay attached with compressor for autocut.

Do only if you are properly trained on live circuits.. Do at your own risk. Check the compressor's capacitor and the relay. Is the compressor getting juice?

looks like operating normally...

the fridge as it reaches it's temperature shuts the compressor off and then after a few minutes..the fridge would increase temperature again and would turn back the compressor again.

its the thermostat which is cutting on and off the compressor.

and i think it is normal. based on the temperatures that you indicated..it is cooling very well..0 F in the freezer and 40 in the refrigerator... that's good.

Compressor on Haier hmse03waww mini-frige shuts off after 10-20 minutes and is hot to the touch.

If the temperature in the refrigerator is correct then this is proper function for the compressor. It should run until the desired temperature is reached then shut off. The compressor also gets really warm. If the compressor is shutting off prior to the correct temperarure being reached then you may have a compressor problem. If the compressor is bad and our of warranty, it is time for a new refrigerator. If it is still under a warranty, call for factory service. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

ONCE THE COMPRESSOR TURNS OFF DOESN'T COME UP BACK ON

The refrigerator is starting defrost mode once four hours of compressor run time has elapsed. Once the computer enters defrost mode it will remain in defrost mode until the desired evaporator temperature is reached (to melt any ice present). However, in my case, the defrost heater was not coming on due to a melted thermal fuse. (one defrost heater and one thermal fuse in each compartment). I found the thermal fuses to be open so I bypassed them. They are made to "open" at 77 degrees farhenheit. Simply storing the appliance in a garage could melt them. Hope this helps!!
