Make sure the operator's seat switch is fully connected. The newer versions now contain a shorting strip which when disconnected or loose will cause the engine to die.

First check under deck and clean any grass or debris from around blades, belt, bearings, pulleys, etc. Might also need a tune up.

It sounds to me like a very loose belt or very worn out belt and also an adjustment problem.

SOURCE: motor stops when the pto or cutting blades are turned on or engaged.

you most likely have a bad safety switch. there is one under your seat, one on engagement lever for blades, and probably one or two more in other places.start with the one under your seat by unplugging it and then going ahead with normale start up and implement engagement. you will have found the bad switch when everything works as it should.replace switch if you feel its necessary or just leave unplugged. it will not affect performance or longevity of the tractor

SOURCE: Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver

Engine shuts down when cutting deck engaged

This is probably due to a misadjusted or faulty safety switch on the rider's seat. There is a deadman switch there that will shut down the mower if the rider gets off the seat with the blades engaged.

Why does my rover rancher stall when i go to engage the cutting deck

1>the pressure switch under the seat may be malfunctioning? (it will cause the engine to die immediately when trying to engage the cutting blades because it thinks your not sitting in the seat.
2>dirty or clogged air cleaner element will cause engine to die when engaging cutting blades. This can be tested very easily by removing the air cleaner element and then trying to engage the blades again. If this works then replace air cleaner element immediately before running the engine anymore.
I have personally experienced both of these problems myself more that once.
