Besides know which switch (ie Key switch, Seat switch, we would Need Make/Model/Year/Engine Model/Transmission Model/Deck Size, and hours on meter if you have one. A short description of the events preceding the beginning of the problem is also helpful.

This is a general, Sabre (by John Deere), lawn tractor Ignition switch (Key switch) wiring explanation. This switch was use primarily in the 1990's, on many different models. It may or may not be specific to your model. Included is an unmarked picture of the terminal layout.

Orient your switch so the row of three terminals is on the bottom. Those are the output terminals.

The row of two terminals should be on top and aligned to the right hand side. These are the input terminals. See picture below.

Top row left: This terminal has a red wire. This wire carries voltage/current from the battery (and from the stator; charging system). If the battery is charged and connected this red wire will show 12+ volts; whether the key is on or off.

Top row right: This terminal has a white wire. It's tied to the ground system. It is connected to both the Brake switch and the Blade switch. Its function is to ground the coil when you turn the key off. That kills the engine.

Bottom row left: This is a purple wire. Current goes through this wire, to the Blade Switch, then the Brake switch, and finally to the Starter Solenoid. When you turn the key to the start position, the PTO switch (blade switch) must be off, the brake must be on, the starter solenoid must be in good shape, and then the engine will crank.

Bottom row center: This is a yellow wire; it provides voltage/current to the fuel shut off solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor. It will show zero volts when the key is off and 12 volts when the key is on; provided of course that the red wire is connected to the top left terminal.

Bottom row right: This is a black wire. This wire goes to the ground system and connects to the negative post on the battery. This terminal connects inside to the top row, right, white wire and kills the engine when the key is turned to off. A continuity meter will show this connection cycling on and off as you turn the switch on and off. A DC volt meter could be connected to the positive post of the battery and then to the top right terminal, with the black wire attached to the bottom right terminal, the meter will cycle between zero and 12 volts as the key is turned on and off.

Being Sabre sold by John Deere you need to contact your local JD dealer for a wiring diagram. They should should be able problem a copy from their service manual on your Sabre but you need to give the model number instead of the serial number.

Doesn't sound like you're talking about a power cord, but just in-case.
The small flat pin has a black wire.
The wide flat pin has a white wire.
The small round pin has a green wire.

Hope this is it.

How to wire a plug

In USA, Either the male or female plug connector would be wired the same. Black is hot wire and would connect to the BRASS colored round head screw ( Smallest flat prong or slot ). White is the neutral wire and would connect to the SILVER colored round head screw ( Largest flat prong or slot ). Green is the ground wire and would connect to the GREEN screw ( ONLY HEX shaped screw ). 1) FOR YOUR LIFE SAFETY, ALWAYS USE 3-WIIRE PLUGS WHEN REPAIRING 3-WIRE EXTENSION CORDS! 2) Check the male plug connector. It should have two flat and one rounded prong. The rounded prong is the ground wire connection. If the ground prong is missing, replace the plug. 3) Inspect the outer cover for damage. 4) Do not use cords with damaged outer covers. Taping over the damage is not an adequate repair, for safety, replace the cord.

Need to change power cord on maytag dryer from 3 prong to 4

Always disconnect electricity before beginning this process.

All the 4 wire cords I have seen are color-coded. The white wire goes to the middle terminal, the green wire goes to any screw you can reach that goes into the metal case of the dyer. The red and black go to the outside terminals of the block and while it doesn't matter which color goes to which terminal I usually follow the color code of the interior dryer wiring that already exists. Good Luck.

Need to switch 3 pronged plug for 4 pronged but not sure which color wire gets connected where.  Other wires were not color coded.

the red and black wires go to L1 and L2 terms doesnt matter which color on which term, white wire goes to"N" neutral terminal and green wire is safety ground that can be grounded to the steel housing of unit if your feed line comes directly from your main panel, not a sub panel, some localities will allow you to tie the white neutral and green grnd wire together in the unit chk your local ordinance first

there should be instructions on the cord that you purchased. if not here it is, on your dryer, the 3 prongs are L1-N-L2.. and the green is a ground L1 line 1, L2 line 2, and N nuetral. L1 and L2 dont make a diff. as long as the whie(nuetral) is in middle terminal and the green screws to hte ground screw
