The hook point spins around, and catches the thread just when the needle rises out of the fabric. When your machine is out of time, the hook will not catch the loop, or create a stitch. This is something that needs to be done at the repair shop.

Install a brand new needle. If it still won't pick up the bobbin thread, the machine may be out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.
Do this by turning the wheel by hand. The bobbin thread will make a small loop on the way up. Move something thin from front to back, catching the top thread under the needle and the bobbin loop thread will come out. Move both threads towards the back and go!
try changing the needle to one that will work with heavier thread you may have to change the bobbin to heavier thread also try adjusting the tension also
try changing the needle rethread the machine--use every thread guide make sure the bobbin is not warped make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly in the case it's very possible that the timing of the machine is off & the machine would need to be checked at a sewing machine shop
Check to make sure the flat side of the needle is in the proper orientation. If it's turned the wrong way, you will experience this problem. Also make sure the needle is threaded from the proper direction. Hopefully this will solve your problem. <Ray>
1.check needle to see if it's bent or blunt end
2.check bobbin & bobbin case for lint or loose thread
3.could be a timming problem- would have to be serviced
Are you certain that the needle is in correctly? If it opens at the front the flat side of the needle should be facing the back. If it opens on the left hand side then the flat part of the needle should be facing into the body of the machine. If top and bottom are threaded correctly and the needle is in properly and fully in position it should pick up. If it doesnt then you "could" have a timing fault.
