Question about Microsoft Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I tried to load windows 7 on my pc but I keep getting "Reboot and select proper boot device Or insert Boot Media select proper device and press any key"

I'm just trying to get the computer to read my regular hard drive with Windows 8.1 now and I'm getting the same message. How can I get it to boot back up into windows... The only kind of disc it seem to read now is a partition cd

Some laptop wont let you put windows 7 over 8.1
you may have to do a full restore using the laptops own windows.

First boot of Win 7. New PC build

Hi.

First of all when you are in the BIOS and have set the DVD/CD drive as the first boot device make sure you save the settings before you restart the computer as it will not remember the changes if you don't.

Make sure that the lens on the CD/DVD drive is clean and also make sure the Windows 7 install disk is clean and free of any finger prints.

make sure that you keep tapping a key when the drive spins up as sometimes people miss the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" message.

If you still can't get the disk to boot then try the install disk in a working PC and see if that reads the disk. If it does then the optical drive could be faulty or does not support DVD format.

Regards.

This problem can be caused by 3 things.
1: Fault Hard Drive.
2: Faulty cables or connection.
3: Faulty motherboard.

As it is a netbook I would recommend taking it to your nearest PC repair shop and asking them to test your HDD and motherboard.

Go to more than one place so that you do not get ripped off.

Reboot and select proper boot device

Hi, ull need to check the boot device priority in ur BIOS which is accessable usualy by pressing the delete key at the start of the boot process. If everthing is correct there and yet it doesnt boot from ur hard disk, try changing it to boot from cd and check if it boots. If it does then i think either your hard disk is corrupted or your OS.

I've read this problem due to new hardware interferences with desktop computers, all they had to do is change a few pins around on the harddrives.. since this is a laptop, and is quite difficult and dodgy to access the hardware, the only other suggestion is to reinstall windows with a recovery disk, or windows CD-ROM.

Hope this helps :)
