My brother MFC-410CN has an error message "Unable to Clean"
Suggestion.
MFC-410CN unplugged from the surge protector. Open the printer case. It opens in the middle. This is how you get to the ink cartridges.
I suggest at this point, to don a pair of dishwashing rubber gloves.
Remove the ink cartridges. Take a clean, lint free cloth, and soak one end in real warm water. Almost where you can't touch it. Wring the cloth out until it's just damp. No drips will form. Take the damp portion of the cloth, and wipe the area of the cartridges that ink comes from.
This should be where you see a thin copper strip.
After you wipe across once, use a different area of the damp cloth that is clean, and wipe again.
What you are trying to do, is to clean the tiny, tiny, little holes of this ink cartridge, where the ink comes out. What has transpired, is that ink has dried in these tiny holes, and ink cannot come out now.
I also advise doing the same to the area where these holes line up in the printer 'body'. Ink may have dried there also, and cannot pass through.
Once you are finished wiping with damp cloth, and no more dried ink is present, and you are satisfied that it isn't, then use a dry, lint free cloth, and wipe these areas.
Let the ink cartridges set out, until you are satisfied that they are dry. Those copper strips of metal must not contain any moisture.
Same thing for the printer itself. Leave it open to dry out. Probably about an hour. Using a hairdryer set on low heat, and constantly moving it back and forth, while keeping it at a distance of about a finger length, will speed up the process. (For the printer. This is not advised for the ink cartridges)
When you are satisfied that all is dry, reinsert the ink cartridges. Make sure they are properly seated. Close the printer case. Plug the printer back into power. Wait one minute, or until the printer goes through it's setup. (If it does one. Some printers do, some printers don't)
Now press the Power On button for the printer. Let it align itself.
Go to the Brother self diagnostic program for the printer, and use it.
Let it print out a test piece of paper after aligning.
