How do I set up speed dialing on my HP Officejet 5740

While "Speed Dialing" or "Speed Dial" is listed in its fax specifications on some sites, it appears to be a mislabeled categorization of its group fax feature as HP's manual makes no other mention of it--save to say, the "fax to multiple numbers" (or multiple recipients) feature. There does not appear to be a speed dial list, but there is a phone book feature for adding contacts (individual numbers) & groups. (The following is detailed in a more explanatory way on pages 65-66 of the user's manual (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-5740-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/6617253/model/6617254/manuals?cc=us&lang=en).

1. From the printer control display, touch Fax.
2. Touch Send Now.
3. Touch the telephone symbol to access its phone book feature.
4. Touch the person symbol for a phone book contact; or touch the multiple person symbol for a group of phone book contacts.
(Note: Contacts should be established before any of these could be added to any group.)
5. Touch + (plus sign) to add a contact/group; or touch the gear symbol (edit) to edit/delete a contact/group.
6. Touch Name.
7. Changes to contacts/groups:
•Adding a contact/group: type the name, & then touch Done.
••Adding a fax number to a contact: Touch Fax Number, enter this contact's fax number, & touch "Create".
••Adding a contact to a group: Touch Number of Members, select all of the contacts to add to this group from this printer's phone book, & touch Select followed by touching "Create".

•Editing: Select the contact/group name, & then touch Done. Then...
••Editing a Contact: touch Fax Number, enter the fax number, & touch Done.
••Editing a Group: touch Number of Members & deselect the contacts to remove from this group or touch + (plus sign) to add contacts to this group. Then touch Done.

•Deleting a contact/group: Select the name, & then touch Delete followed by touching Yes.

NEED HELP IN SET UP SPEED DIAL NUMBER

To enter or edit a speed dial number on the Uniden D1788, go to PHONE BOOK (the book icon), when SELECT appears use the up/down arrows to select the previously entered phone book name, press MENU/SELECT (EDIT appears), press MENU/SELECT (EDIT NAME appears), press MENU/SELECT (EDIT NUMBER appears), press MENU/SELECT (SPEED DIAL - XXXXX) appears. Now, to assign a speed dail number, use the up/down arrows to select the desired speed dial number (Expl: SPD2) and then press MENU/SELECT to save it. The selections are SPD0 to SPD9 and also NO SELECTION to remove an existing speed dial number. You can also assign a speed dial number that's already used to a different phone book name. It will remove it from the old name and reassign it to the new name. Use the above procedure to assign a speed dial number to a new phone book entry when SPEED DIAL appears.

We lost our manual and I am trying to reload our speed dial numbers. I have tried everything but can't seem to figure it out. Help?

1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 3, 1.
2 Press the One Touch key where you want to store a number.
The LCD shows the location you selected.
3 Enter a number (up to 20 digits), and then press Menu/Set. If you want to enter
a pause in the dialing sequence (for example, to wait for an "outside line"), press
Redial/Pause as you're entering digits. A dash appears on the LCD. Pressing
Redial/Pause enters a 3.5 second pause when the number is dialed.
4 Use the dial pad to then enter the name (up to 15 characters), and then press
Menu/Set. You can use the chart on page 4-2 to help you enter letters-OR-To store the number without a name,
press Menu/Set.
5 Return to Step 2 to store another One Touch number-OR-Press Stop/Exit.
When you dial an auto dial number, the LCD shows the name you've stored, or,
if you haven't stored a name, the number you've stored.

WHEN I TRY TO DIAL A NUMBER IT PULLS UP MY CONTACTS INSTEAD OF DIALING THE NUMBER

I think this is a normal behavior of WM. As you go dialing, it goes trying to match it against your contacts list, so that you can easily select the one you want to call without even finishing keying his/her number in. You just have to select the name from the list it offers and, with few operations, make the call.
I might be heavily wrong, though.
Just my 2 cents... Carlos

How get do I get my incoming phone numbers to be displayed

Most phones will only do what you require if the contacts are stored on the phones memory instead of the SIM memory. This will also prevent you from assigning photos to contacts and one touch speed dials (i.e. press and hold a number to dial a stored number) Try copying all your contacts to the phones memory. If you see duplicate names, go into phone book settings and adjust setting for phone just to look at phones memory and this will stop duplicates being shown. hope that helps?

Voice dialing on the i870 motorola phone

Using a Voice Name

Follow the prompts of your voice dialing service, first which means that you need to run the set up of this feature. Each number can be assigned a voice dialing option, which the phone must be trained to recognize.

If you have created a voice name in Contacts for the number you want to call, say the voice name into your handset to enter the number. You can use a voice name to enter a handset number
with the flip open or closed.

1. Press and hold t until a prompt appears telling
you to say the voice name.
2. Speaking into the microphone, say the voice name assigned to the number you want to call.

Your handset plays the name back to you.
If you are making a Private call, press and hold the
PTT button to place the call.

If you are making a phone call, the call is placed
automatically.
(Tip: To stop a phone call from being completed,
press . if the flip is closed or press e.)

Setting up a speed dial

from the website:

How do I set speed dial for one of my contacts? First, find the contact in your Contact List, highlight it, and press OK. Then select Options -> Speed Dialing and press OK.

Choose one of the numbers from the list and select Assign to assign it to your contact. You can now use 1-Touch Dialing for that phone number. Just press and hold that assigned one or two digit number instead of dialing the contact's entire phone number.
