Question about Sony 7.2 Channel 4K Black A/V Receiver - STR-DN1050

Problem with zone 2 with sony str dn 1050

Hi all, I just purchased and installed the sony str dn 1050 AV receiver. The reason I purchased this one was because of the zone 2 functionality. I have a 5.1 system that works fine. In the manual one could see that if one chooses a setup without surround back 7.2, one could enter a speaker set to these connections for a zone 2... I connected a speakerset to this and activated the zone 2 but nothing happened. When I choose the setting with surround I have sound from these speakers... Could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong or could it be a failure of the receiver? thanks for the answers, grts, Piet

SOURCE: No sound from rear speakers during test tone usng Sony STR-DE475

I had this problem last night.

To solve it, you can reset the amp by:

1) Put the receiver on stand-by
2) Hold down "MODE" button and press on button
3) "S.F. CLR" appears in the display and surround is back on.

Good luck

SOURCE: Speakers pop and rear speakers cut out of surround sound

Hi,
your problem is a bad solder connection of the relay linked to the lautspeaker sockets. I had the same problem and googled for the solution. Since I resoldered the pins everything is fine. That problem is well known and happens to a lot of Sony receivers.

I can send you a link with a detailed how-to-do solution with pictures, however it's written in german language. But you can use some online translators.

I turned Zone 2 on on my Sony AV System and now can't turn it off. There must be something simple that I'm overlooking, I just can't find an off function. The remote says RM-AAE003 R on it. Thanks for...

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

Page 18 tells how to reset the Receiver to its factory defaults. But if Zone 2 or 3 are on it won't work. Quite the Catch-22, huh?

It claims the RM-US106 should be the remote, which has explicit Zone Keys right on it.

This is SONY's own post for that remote (which requires its own manual) and it seems to be a dead end.

When i shut off the unit it displays 2nd zone on

For some reason your multizone operation is enabled. A quick browse through your manual should help you turn Zone 2 off. Multizone is used if you have speakers or amplifiers in other rooms and you want to control them with one source.
