You will need to peel off the rubber matt. You can glue it back with Bostick afterwards. At the spindle should be a horseshoe clip. It could be covered up, so you will have to remove the covering too. Remove the horseshow clip and it should come off.

SOURCE: motor turns feebly, not enough to make the platter

Sounds like the motor is bad if you say it turns feebly. See if you can turn the drive shaft with your fingers easily. If you find it hard, it's possible that something might have worn out. You could try oil in that case.

How do I level my pioneer pl-50 turntable platter

When you removed the platter were there a couple of brass or copper washers around the spindle? If not you could try and find a couple to lift platter. Also check for wobble in the platter new ones can be had. There are clubs you may have to join on facebook that will help you one is Vintage HiFi and stereo mostly a bragging site but very helpful with links to others. that is where I found help with my Pioneer turn tables, also Ebay is where I found parts bought a PL518 sold for parts to fix the two I had.

Pull up on the platter with one hand after you remove the rubber mat. Then hit the center post with a rubber mallet while pulling up on the platter with on hand just hard enough to release the platter from the post. The platter should come off.

Need to replace the belt, but I can get the Platter off. How do I get the Platter off on my Pioneer PL-30 turntable

Take the bottom off and there may be a round cylinder that should be filled with oil and a cap that screws off. Remove the cap and I think there is a clip that needs to be removed.

Hello My turntable do not spin

This turntable is a belt driven type. The belt wraps around the underside of the platter and the drive motor spindle. If the belt has slipped off, broken or is so old that it is slipping - the platter will not turn. Usually you can remove the rubber cover on the top of the platter to use access openings beneath to put the belt back on.

The turntable product brochure, owner's manual and related info is available from Pioneer, here.

I hope this helps!

How do I install a belt on a Pioneer PL600?

I thought this model was "Direct Drive" and not belt but there may be more than one PL600 !

If it is belt then installation is pretty simple.

1. after removing the old belt make sure the motor spindle is clean with no gunge, same for the platter (I use isopropynol on cotton buds)

2. Place new belt on the platter ensure it is flat and not twisted

3. fun part is to get the belt stretched over to the motor pulley but most platters have a hole in them so that you can do this (take off the mat and check). Some even have a small pick on the underside of the platter that will hold the belt while you place the platter back on the main spindle and then you would rotate it to release the belt from the pick onto the drive spindle.

These are generic instructions but should see you some way to doing what you want Just make sure the belt is never twisted.

Pioneer pl 990 turntable

Lift off the platter mat, then lift off the platter from the spindle - gently.
Underneath the platter is a sub-platter around which you place the belt - it should be held there by the stretch of the belt while you turn the platter back up the right way and place it back on the spindle.
Turning the platter by hand, you should see a small pulley come into view through one of the holes in the platter. You then stretch the belt slightly so that it slides over the pulley. Take care not to twist the belt while doing this.
