Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Mechanism will not pick up records

You have a read out, or a write in problem.
Either the selections are not being written to the memory, or they are not being read by the scanning mechanism.

You'll have to determine which situation you have, which can be difficult for a novice. "Seeburg won't pick up" is the most common problem because it's either a "write in" or "read out" issue. Various tests are too complicated to explain via this forum.
Might be time to bring in a professional.
Also, be sure if you have service done, the guy gives the machine a good lubrication.

THESE MANUALS ARE FOR PROFESSIONAL REPAIRMEN. YOU WILL NOT UNDER STAND THE LINGO. THE PROBLEM IS ON THE TORMAT UNIT. THERE ARE 4 WIRES ON THE BOTTOM OF THAT TORMAT UNIT. (FIRST POSSIBILITY) ONE OF THE FOUR HAS COME LOOSE. THE COLOR OF THESE WIRES ARE RED==GREEN== , AND TWO BLACK. MOVE WITH A LITE TOUCH. TO SEE WHAT ONE IS BROKEN. (SECOND POSSIBILITY) THE SAME WIRES GO TO THE REVERSING SWITCH. MOVE THESE WIRES WITH A LIGHT TOUCH.

SOURCE: seeburg jukebox sx 100 scans twice and returns

THIS JUKEBOX IS 40 YEARS OLD. LUBRICATION MAY BE THE PROBLEM. HERE IS HOW TO FORCE THE SEEBURG JUKEBOX TO PICK UP A RECORD AND PLAY A SONG.
LOOK AT THE ARM THAT HOLDS UP THE NEEDLE AND CARTAGE. NEAR THE MIDDLE OF THE RED ARM, ONE INCH TOWARD THE MOTOR, THERE IS A HORIZONTAL LEAVER LIFT IT UP A RECORD WILL GO INTO THE HEAD, THAT RECORD SHOULD PLAY THE SONG, IF THE LUBRICATION IS OK.
IF THE RECORD GOES INTO THE HEAD, AND THEN PUTS THE RECORD BACK IN THE RACK. YOU HAVE A LUBRICATION PROBLEM.
THAT IS A TOUGHT MACHINE TO FIX IOF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH IT.

I have a LPC 480 Seeburg Jukebox that scans, pick up the record, the needle touches the record, then returns the record to the carriage without playing. What can I do?

Try reading this, basically the fault can be in the mech, the amp or trip switches.

Mechanism will not pick up records

Hi,

Check out the tormat on your jukebox. It runs almost the full length of the mechanism. On the tormat is the A and B side contacts and a ground rail. You will see that on the mechanism is a arm that runs over these contacts on it it has very fine wire links (similar to those on motor brushes) these can become disconnected and may require being resolderd back into place.
