This is an old machine. However, the same problems arise with other machines:
1. Ensure the length of stitch is not zero.
2. Check the adjustment to make sure the bobbin winding is off.
3. If this doesn't work you might try moving the length adjustment back and forth several times. It could be old lubricant is stuck.
4. Take your thread off of your machine and out of the bobbin.
5. As you step on the foot control watch the feed dog. Move your length adjustment back and forth. Place a long oil tube of sewing machine oil down in that area and lubricate as well as you can.
6. Continue to monitor the feed dogs and step on the foot control.
7. If it isn't working by now you may have to take the bottom off and oil and clean the moving parts that go to the feed dogs.
9. After that you can take the top off and move the stitch length adjustment and watch the moving parts. Oil and clean (qtip) the moving parts.
By doing these steps you should have gotten it to work. If not you will have to see a repairman.

Check that the feed button or lever is in the correct position
If it is in the centre position then the feeding foot doesn't know to go forward (normal ) or reverse
If electronic controlled the maybe a service is called for.

Does singer model 758 have a feed dog?

Yes, the vast majority of sewing machines have feed dogs. That is how the fabric is pulled through the machine to produce the line of stitching.

These machines are not user serviceable, no parts will be available to the general public. Have a trained service technician give you an estimate for repairs.

Singer model 518....the material won't feed through. It wants to sew but won't feed cloth through. Thks

Be sure you have the stitch length set high enough that the fabric will actually move instead of sewing mostly in one spot.

One other thing to check is the presser foot applying enough pressure to the fabric so that the feed dogs can grab the fabric? On the top left side of the machine, there is probably either a dial or a push-type button. That would most likely be the pressure adjustment. The tighter that is set, the harder the pressure the presser foot will apply and the more the feed dogs will grab the fabric.

Check that the feed dogs are in the "up" position so they will pull the fabric through the machine. Are the feed dogs actually moving forward, raising above the needle plate, pulling toward the back of the machine, and then dropping below the needleplate before moving forward again? If not, then the problem could be with the feed dogs.

Your machine appears to be a mechanical model. If so, it could be the machine needs a good over-all cleaning and oiling--a couple drops of fresh, good quality sewing machine oil every place that metal rubs on metal (no plastic parts, belts...). Feed dogs are frequently affected when the sewing machine does not receive regular maintenance.

My singer 6180 feet dogs eats fabric at the top of feed dogs fabric gets stuck and does not feed the fabric why???

It sounds like the height of your feed dogs is the problem. I don't know which model you have, but of it's a plastic casing, you will need to take it in for service.

If it's not feeding the fabric, it make me wonder if you accidently lowered your feed dogs.

I have an old Singer sewing machine, (I cant find a model number for anywhere on it) that wont feed fabric. I know some have a darning option, but I cant for the life of me find such a thing on this...

Thge most common fault is the needle plate is not on properly if you have a magnetic plate, you may have a drop feed mechanism in the bobbin case area.

My Singer (model 237) sewing machine will not stitch the underside (bobbin side) of the fabric. Furthermore it does not seem to feed the fabric through to the other side. The top stitches (spool) will work...

Check and see if there are any broken little pieces of thread or lint in the bobbin case. Also you may need to oil the bobbin case....but usually, lint is the culprit. Good Luck.

I have a singer 3343c machine, when sewing the fabric foot does not move, the fabric while the machine is sewing.

the presser foot only holds the fabric against the feed dogs in the needle plate area

check the feed dogs to see if there in the up position

if not there should be a nob in the feed dog area to move them up & down

on some models when you remove the extension table the nob is at the back

Why would my Singer 6235 not feed the fabic:

h! there,
fabric moves forward when machine run due to movement of feed dogs, feed dog has a teeth, when your foot presser goes down attached to fabrics the pressure hold the fabric between pressure foot and feed dogs that why when machine run feed dogs pushed fabric when recieved stitch.try to check adjustment of feed dogs it maybe set at rest or neutral.reset it to upward towards needle.check also bobbins thread if accumulation was build up under feed dogs.regard and have a nice day.
