I on the other hand, have found just the opposite of the previous answer. The minimax NT, Has been a very decent heater for my customers.

A lockout, is really a very simple problem to find. It is due to Not having the ability to ignite the raw fuel, that is coming out of the gas valve. So if you are getting a walkout, and everything is fine, except for the problem, you should be smelling a very strong gas odor.?
if you are, then that tells you that sensors are good, and the gas valve is good and the ignition control box is good. You probably have a bad hot surface igniter. Replace it and you should be good.
You can confirm this safely: first shut off the gas on off valve near the year. That will stop gas flow. Now after you have turn the power off to the heater for a minute or so, turn it back on and create a call for heat. You will hear the fan blower motor engage, but if you seconds later you will hear a click that will be the relay in the ignition control Module or Grey box sending power to the igniter, you will then see a bright red glow, or you 'should' see a bright red glow in the heaters burner tray area.
Then you will hear a slightly louder click which is the gas valve opening, sending Raw fuel to ignite with the bright red glow. But there will be no ignition because you have the valve turned off, this is for safety reasons. And that you're going to have the exact same problem after a few attempts, which is going to be a total of three attempts before the heater goes into a lockout mode.
but the purpose of this test, is to see if you achieve the bright red glow? If you don't, then you did confirm that your hot surface igniter, has failed, and needs replacement.

Turn it off at the black toggle switch inside the front panel or turn it off at the breaker for 2-3 minutes
Then try again.
Check that flow is good, gas is on ect...
Is it saying lockout on the display?
If not then as you fire it up after cutting power keep the panel off and watch the ignition control red diagnostic light.
The blinking sequence of that light should point you in the right direction. There is typically a label that will tell you what the blinks mean.
Minimax nt heaters are on borrowed time, and in most my Delong with them once they start having an issue it will never end , basically they are lemons and replacements for them is very common

IF is ignition failure. Verify that you have a good Ignitor and that your gas supply is adequate to fire the unit. I rarely see the internal gas valve fail on any Hayward unit. Be careful if you have to put your hand in there. The electric circuit on the smaller heaters is not typically 24VAC, it is usually 120VAC in the U.S.

make three attempts to get heater running. most electronic ignition heaters will lock out after 3-4 times. after it locks out error codes should present themselves.....such as ignition failure, prs, etc.
ensure proper gas and water pressure. check voltage supplied to your raypack's igniter aswell. if heater fires up then instantly shuts off, then it may be the flame sensor

Raypak 2100 265A displays GVO. I know it means Gas Valve Open, but I do not know what is wrong. It is a IID Electronic Pilot. I see a slight flame when the igniter lights and then the system goes into GVO...

Here is the directions from raypak on this code.

1. Turn off power and disconnect ignition wire and gas valve wires from cpu board.
2. Turn on the power and watch for spark at module.
3. If no spark is observed, turn off power and replace the board.
4. If spark is observed, turn off power and reconnect gas valve and ignition wire.
5. Turn on power and unit should fire.
if unit does not fire and code reappears, turn off power and disconnect gas valve wires from the board and remove MV,PV and ground wires from the gas valve. Clean and reconnect wires.
7.Plug the gas valve back into the board and torn power on. Unit should fire.
8. If the unit fails to fire, Replace the gas valve.

Its not a good code to get. Hope this helps

How do i adjust the coil on a echo pole saw to get the right gap to make it fire. and also is there a way to check the coil to see if it is firing

The correct air gap is 0.3mm, slacken the ignition unit screws, slot a feeler gauge passed the ignition units metal core, turn the flywheel around to allow the feeler gauge to get sandwiched between the units core and the magnets, now re tighten the screws. If the machine still has no spark, i fear it is a new ignition unit required.

94 Fatboy, I replaced the coil and ignition, still no spark in the rear cyl, top winding. This bike is a Calf. model. Thanks ............ Dennis Sailor. Cocoa Fl. Steves Cycles...........

By the way you're talking, the bike is equipped with a single fire ignition. Your use of the term "top winding" indicates that there is a "bottom winding" or two windings on the coil. A single fire coil will have three small connections on it. A dual fire coil will only have two primary connections. In the dual fire system, both spark plugs fire at the same time where they fire individually on the single fire. Please check the ignition system out further and tell me if it's a stock ignition system or some type of aftermarket system. Either way, no spark to the rear cylinder indicates a bad ignition unit.

Good Luck
Steve

What does a Ignition Lockout (red LED blinking 3 times) mean? Pilot light and main burner will not fire up.

Hi, on most all heaters you will have a chart somewhere on this unit, a code chart that will tell you what it means. It had to try and fire 3 times before it locked the module out do to a open safety switch, flame roll out switch, or a open pressure switch. Look, as they paste them on a panel or somewhere on the unit. If you have no luck, please use my user name below and I will look into it more for you. Send me all of the information to this unit. Keep me posted.

Mini max plus 150 fails to fire

It appears that the boiler is going into hard lock out. This is caused by successive ignition failures for some reason. After 3 attempts to light, a high limit trip, low water flow, etc, the unit will lock out and will require a power reset in order to reset the ignition control. You should have the cause investigated to ensure safe operation.
