Amber light flashing, monitor does not come on

My viewsonic_rc00161p is no longer working. The monitor does not come one and stays black. The power button/light flashes on and off. I have tried holding down the power button, powering off the monitor, nothing works. What does the flashing light mean and how do I fix it?

First of all try with new monitor leads.

A usual reason why a monitor would do that is because some capacitors have blown.. To fix this you would need some knowledge of soldering etc. Best bet is take it to a repair shop.

If it is quite an old monitor it is probably not worth fixing, so get a new monitor, damn this throwaway society haha.

SOURCE: No Power

This is a very common problem. Theres a guy on ebay that will fix it for you for 24 bucks plus 5 bucks shipping. When you open the monitor, on the back panel there are 2 boards. One is a power supply board, the other is the interlogic board. The power supply board is where the problem is. I do not know the exact component that needs replacing as I did not test this yet. I do not have the proper test equipment. For 24 bucks, I'm just gonna let the ebay guy repair it. I will report my results here when I get the board back. I'm also gonna mark the components so I know what they replaced.

SOURCE: LCD monitor no display - flashing power button

Hate to criticize and then not help out. I have this exact same problem with one of my E152 Dell Displays. I have read around and this whole line of displays seemed to have trouble. I found many issues like this and no solutions.
So, I like to tinker and tinker i did. I opened the case, removed the screen and went straight to the power supply board where I found two burned out capacitors.

Found a great source for replacement parts and instruction to replace the caps at BadCaps.net
Let you know how it goes.

i believe your monitor signal cable is bad or twisted.try straightening the data cable that connects to your cpu, if it doesn't work, replace the signal cable.

these monitors are tightly held in place by clips. After removing all the necessary screws, use somehing like a credit card to pry open the lid. Just need to be careful not to crack the case, or your hand.

Very typical of View Sonic. Sounds like a back backlight or inverter. I would go to www.viewsonic.com and open up a RMA. Most view sonic screens have a 3 year warranty. They will repair at no cost ..(if it is within that period) There is a date code on the back of the screen that will help you validate the above information.

Monitor flashes on then off power light stays on whats wrong?? shows screen for about 3 seconds then goes black

Some 22" Viewsonics will have worn out bulging capacitors in the power supply that causes this symptom.

Black screen

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC and other monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

I had several monitors do this. They start blinking on and off for a while until they warm up. It takes longer and longer for them to warm up, then eventually they never stay on and blink forever. In my experience, it has been the capacitors on the power circuit. You can fix it with a little soldering and about $1 worth of capacitors. For photos and a guide, look here: Fix an LCD Monitor

I have a ViewSonic VE910b 19" That the display stays black

What your both experiencing is a slow degradation of the inside light bulbs. Just like what happens to regular fluorescent bulbs, they slowly flicker out.

Best to buy a new monitor.

Take apart your old one, you'll find burnt out bullbs on the upper and lower chassis deep inside.

Viewsonic Monitor problem, blinking LED light, no picture.

you guys......you don't have a software (driver, refresh rate, etc.) problem. When you first power up the monitor, do you get any display at all (ex, "analog input" or "No input signal")? Of course not - that's because you have a hardware problem with the monitor. Go here and watch the youtube video on how to take apart your monitor and find and replace the "domed" capacitors that have blown:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/247964-33-viewsonic-vx922-monitor-black-screen-green-power-light-flashes

Fortunately I only had 1 ($1.76 at Radio Shack). I replaced it in less than 30 minutes and my monitor showed "no input signal" upon powerup as expected because I wasn't connected to my pc which is full of all kinds of drivers and refresh settings, etc.

PC starts fine, then the montor blinks and no display. light stays green

This is most probably cause by one or more Faulty Electrolytic Capacitors, I find these are the MOST commonest form of "Fault" in these LCD's TFT's units. I ususally simply replace "On Spec" all High Value Electros, in fact ALL Electro's are suspect and often I just "Shotgun" and replace 'em all. Usually fixes all problems. Always use High Temperature Caps. Try this as it is a common problem I find a lot. Good Luck.
