Question about Miele 24 in. Incognito G843SCVi Built-In Dishwasher

1 Answer

I bought a house that has this dishwasher. I do not know how old it is. It does a great job of cleaning dishes but three problems: 1. how do you know when it is finished? it has no lights, only a plain front stainless door and runs very quietly. I've 'managed' the problem by only running it before bedtime so it's definitely done by morning. 2. The on/of light (that can only be seen on the top edge of the door if the door is open) stays on unless I manually push the off button. 3. It only starts if I slam the door shut quite hard. It won't start if I close the door normally. I realize these three problems might be related. Also, the bottom tray looks like it might be a replacement as it doesn't have much in the way of adjustable dividers like the upper tray does. Thank you!

There is an indicator light on the top left side of the door, it's on when running and flashes for about an hour when done. There should be a reflector attached to the bottom of the countertop, with double sided tape, above the light, allowing you to see the light when the door is closed. It looks like a piece of clear plastic about 2x2 inches. To turn the dishwasher off, when not in use, you need to press the off button, and press the on button when you want to use it, that's normal for your dishwasher. The door latch might need a little adjustment. On the top edge of the dishwasher, in the center there is a small metal latch sticking out. You can loosen the screws and move the latch out, just a little, tighten it up again and see if that makes it easer to latch the door. Don't move it out too much or it could start leaking from the door seals. Also make sure the door is not rubbing on the cabinetry or countertop. The bottom basket should just have tines for 2 rows of plates, you should be able to fold one side down. Silverware goes in the cutlery tray at the very top of the dishwasher.

First I would run the hot water until hot. Then start the dishwasher on the longest setting with the dispenser door closed( no detergent). Then after about 10-15 minutes open the door and check to see if the dispenser door opened, it should have. Then pour in about 1 cup of white vinegar and let the dishwasher finish. When the dishwasher reaches the end of the cycle open the door and it should be hot and steamy. If not check the heating element. If it is hot this should have cleaned it out, now try it with a load of dishes.

Miele dishwasher G 1232 sc no longer dries

the problem with not drying is normally three things
1. not adding enough rinse aid to the compartment (dispenser) and adding to much soap.
ex rinse aid helps with drying, spots and cleanind the dishes. so if is none then you want get maximum cleaning.
3. make sure you run the faucet to get the hottest waster going into the machine this will make the other two do it job better because as you know you cant clean dishes properly in cold water.if this info helped please send me 4 thumbs post , thanks

Dishes come out with a white, chalky film, not very clean.

are you using palmolive eco liquid detergent? if so - google "palmolive eco white residue" and you will find out that your detergent is the culprit. the solution is to use 1/2 cup of vinegar in your rinse cycle and soap dish and STOP USING PALMOLIVE ECO!

Popular Science or Mechanical Ill. recently suggested to take the drain cover at the bottom of the unit off and use a shop vacum to clean and clear out the sludge and accumulation in that section it may **** up and solve the problem,at least it is worth a try.

Doesn't clean dishes

By clean what exactly do you mean...is there a film...or is it food particles...and did it happen at the other address...and was the other address.....far away or did it have a water treatment.system...If it is just a film as in white deposits...it sounds like hard water and you can install a filter for the water before it gets to the DW under the Sink or and entire system for the House "Hey Culligan Man" :-)...otherwise...it doesn't sound like anything else since the DW worked great at the other address.....thanks and let me know....please rate me if this was helpful...thank you ....The Fang

Fisher&Paykel dishwasher does not clean dishes

We have one too and it cleans the dishes really nicely. However, you have to be sure you look after the filter screen. Hard water could also be a problem if the detergent you use does not have an additive in it and you should always use a rinse agent (pour it into the reservoir in the front).

In order most likely and easiest first: 1) Be sure nothing you put in the racks goes below the level of the rack. If it does it will block the spray arm from turning and you will get semi-cleaned dishes and soap streaks as you describe. My sister had the same problem and swore nothing interfered with the arm, but the way she loaded some things permitted them to move during the first few revolutions of the rm and stopped it. Check to see if the arm rotates freely for about two rotations after a load is finished and the conditions you describe appear. 2) Check the filter screen located in the bottom of each drawer under the silverware holder. You have to lift the hinged portion of the rack to get to it. Clean it well and reinstall it. It should be checked every three loads, or once a week at least. 3) Then check the holes in the spray arm to be sure they are open. If plugged clean them out carefully. 4) Then if that does not work, dissamble the arm, and motor (covered in the instructions or available on line, and be sure nothing is plugged in those areas. 5) Cll a repair man who really knows the unit - not all do and they can do more harm than good.

The unit will clean very well. Good luck!

Redeposits material on dishes

We had the same problem and we have managed to resolve it for the most part.  We have found that the detergent makes a huge difference.  Our experimentation found that Cascade Complete powder did the best job.  Also, our old glassware was wide at the bottom and narrow at the top which I suspect made it difficult for the spray arm to get water up there so we bought new glassware and that helped a lot too.  It still happens from time to time but it is pretty rare.

Bosch dishwasher

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.
