Question about Tablets & eReaders

1 Answer

When I attempt to charge using USB charger the charging light is red for a couple of seconds and then goes off. I have only just received this case/keyboard. It is obviously not already charged since the power light is not working when switched on.

Turn the keyboard on and let it run all the way down. Then try charging again. If the Red light stays on, the keyboard has was charged. If the same conditions exist, then arrange for a replacement.

How do i charge my nabi2 if my charger hole is broken

If it truly is the connector in the Nabi, you're in a bit of a jam. But, the power cords I find are very finicky. I have two Nabi's and each has its "preferred" charging cable. One cable works better than the other on each tablet. Before attempting any major repair, try another USB charging cable. You can get the cable for under $4 on Ebay. Make sure you have a high powered USB source (2 Amp or 2000 milliamp) or it won't provide enough juice to charge the tablet. Beyond that, I also sometimes have to "position" the cable just right, twisting the connector and cable till I get the red charge light to stay on. Often this requires I fully power off the Nabi, not just put it into stand-by. Good luck.

Will my zeepad charge threw my pc. charge light has come on but zeepad has not

You cannot use a computer USB port to charge a tablet, unlike charging a smartphone. You will have to use the supplied charger. If you really want to use the USB port to charge your Zeepad, you will need to custom-built a cable using any extra USB cable you can spare. Just change the connector at the remote end of the cable to one that suits your Zeepad's 5V DC IN socket. You are forwarned the connector is not easy to find.

We lost the charger for a few weeks when we found it now the nabi won't charge.

Try reseting it by holding down the power button (while unpluged, first) for 5-10 seconds. Then plug in charger.

I have a Nabi that all of the sudden even if the green light is on saying its charged the screen stays black

Sounds like you have a good charger/cable, so try resetting the Nabi that's giving you trouble. Hold the power switch down for 10-20 seconds to reset the unit.
I have a couple of NABI-2 tablets and they both react differently to the charging cables; I often have to shut the NABI off completely to charge them. Also, getting the charging cable to connect can be challenging - I will plug the cable in and out several times waiting 10 seconds or so to see if the green LED will go red.

Kindle will not charge from out let or computer

Please clarify: what charger did you use to connect to an outlet? The Kindle 3 comes with an USB cable to charge from a PC or Mac computer and no charger outside for many countries outside the US (for other countries an external charger is available from Amazon as optional accessory). Use of a different charger (e.g. mobile phone charger with USB connector) is not supported, not recommended and may fry your Kindle if a wrong voltage is hooked to it.

Things you can try:
  1. Use a different outlet to charge the Kindle.
  2. If you use the supplied USB cable to connect to a PC, make sure its firmly seated on both ends. Connect to a powered USB port directly on your computer. Some external USB hubs do not come with a separate power supply (external power supply is mandatory for an USB 2.0 hub, some cheap models are sold without one anyway) and are not suited to charge anything. Just to make sure, disconnect any other USB device except mouse / keyboard to check if the USB port in use is not burdened by too much drain.
  3. The Kindle power LED should glow amber while charging and green if the device is fully charged.
  4. Give the Kindle a reset pressing Home --> Menu --> Settings --> Menu and select "Restart." If the charge light is on but the device is still not charging, contact Amazon customer service.
  5. If the charge light does not light, the AC adapter or cable needs to be replaced.
  6. Contact Amazon customer support for any warranty issues.

Kindle is frozen

Could be one of a couple things:

  1. Battery Charge
  2. General Failure - requires a reset
  3. Firmware Upgrade Failure
  4. Hardware Failure

Obviously, the first one is the easiest to figure out. Its been a while since I looked at a Kindle, so you might have to do some legwork on this. Try the following:
  1. Plug in the charger/usb cable. Preferably NOT hooked up to a computer. Are there any 'charge' lights that used to come on and now don't?
  2. If they don't come on, 2 through 4 could be the problem. If it does come on, wait for the amount of time that was originally recommended for the first charge (12 hours?)
  3. Next attempt a hardware reset. If its kindle 2, then unplug, and slide and hold the switch for 30 seconds and release. Either it works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, return for service. The kindle one has some other reset things you can do to it, but it requires removing the back cover and etc.
Good Luck!
