SOURCE: Pool Heater

You can light the pilot with a B.B.Q. lighter.

Nottoohandy. Backwash you filter, make sure it's really clean. If that doesn't work it could be the pressure switch. You can by-pass the switch with a piece of wire to see if it fires up. If it does, it's the switch. There is a picture of the switch in the manual.

SOURCE: Rinnai burner goes out when ignition button is released

The thermocouple [s] require replacement, or in my experience try servicing the unit first. There is an injector for the main pilot and a secondary injector for the flame thrower ignition. Both of these are prone to blocking due to dust and can be enough to shut the unit down. Although usually this is thermocouple related as you are manually keeping the unit running when you hold down the button, if the tcouple is broken it wont send enough millivolts to hold the magnetic valve open when you release the button.

Have a richmond 6G40-36F1 hot water heater had to turn off gas for another issue, now igniter doesnt spark and pilot wont light

Not to sound silly, but are you pushing the igniter button down hard enough so it snaps? If so, your igniter is no good. Try to light the water heater the old fashioned way by using a match. I would use fireplace matches since they are long enough to reach the pilot light point.

Ignition continuous spark

I am not familiar with this model, but in general when it says to push the button it will start the sparking sequence to lite the pilot or burner once it lites and proves flame then the sparking should quit. Something must of broken and is keeping the spark staying on. It should not be sparking all the time. Hope this helps.

My Bradford White Defender M-I-30T6FBN doesn't show igniter button on instructions

1) Copy following links to identify gas control valve and read ignition procedure, and access service manual for your product:

2) Honeywell gas control used on recent Bradford White gas water heaters has red knob that rotates to pilot. Press and hold red knob. Then push red igniter button until status light changes.

I have an old flueless rinnai gas heater and the safety valve which is used to ignite the heater has disappeared. There is just a hole where there should be a push button safety valve. Where can I get...

Joel, have you looked inside the heater's cabinet, to see if it's fallen inside? For it to disappear, someone would have had to dismantle the heater cabinet and disconnect the ignitor's wiring. Or if you're speaking of the Gas Control Valve (the knob says OFF, PILOT, ON) they would have had to do the same thing. If it is the Gas Control Valve, I would recommend that you just scrap the old heater and buy a new one. As the Control Valves are pretty expensive and who ever removed it, may have taken other critical parts with it.

If it's just the Igniter button and wiring, they're pretty inexpensive to replace. Assuming the the Piezo Igniter (it generates the spark) next to the pilot is still intact. As a matter of fact, you could probably replace it with a gas grill igniter button, if it will fit the existing hole.

Hope I was able to help you solve the problem or at least, steer you in the right direction. Please let me know. Thanks.

Cozy Heater not igniting and heating

Sounds like to me that the pilot ignition is not lighting pilot lite. You have to be careful when jumping out the stat that you jump the right wires. It must be an automatic Ignitor, or push button.I would change the module out. That should take care of the problem. Look at the schematics so you know what to look for. Please let me know, Sincerely, Shastalaker7

Boiler won't fire even though the pilot is lit

Check if the ignition plug works. Upon putting your boiler on, a spark will normally trigger the
the firing. Then, check the ignition transformer if it works. Check the secondary voltage which is between 15000 to 20000 volts to trigger the ignition plug and the boiler to fire. If no spark,
have your ignition transformer replaced to make it work.
