Broken wheel that the drum rides on most likely. or a partially broken drive belt.

Do u know how to access these parts on tumble dryer as my husband have taken the top off but can't get into it only can see the drum. Thanks

  • rdjagger Mar 28, 2015

generally you take the front off to access the drum. remove control panel, then the front. should not be that hard. try a youtube.com search for you make/model and see if there is a video post showing you how. or try appliancepartspros.com or repairclinic.com for a similar video.

SOURCE: tumble dryer makes whine noise but doesnt spin

Sounds like the drive belt has gone, and the noise you can hear is the motor going round.
The red glow you can see, will be the heater element glowing..
To check the belt, remove top cover, and you will be able to see if the belt is on or not, if you can see it round the drum, try to lift it up, if it has not broken, then you will not be able to remove it, and that means the motor or drum could be siezed, try to turn the drum by hand, it should be fairly stiff to turn, but not that stiff that you cannot turn it at all.

Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

SOURCE: How do I use the

Yes - drum revolves around rack. Shouldn't tumble! Insert the dryer rack inside the dryer drum. You must line up the wire on the back of the rack with the ledge of the inner dryer panel. Front of rack tucks into or above lint trap

is the blower blowing? are u getting a full 220 at the outlet? in some machines if u only get half or 110 volts u may have enough power to run motor but not run the heating which takes a full 220, also if ur motor has a bad winding or ur not getting full power at outlet, may also wannt to check terminal block on dryer

I had a problem similar to this on my Frigidaire dryer. I found that there is a felt ring that goes around the drum inside. This acts like a washer to prevent the drum from rubbing on the housing. On mine, the felt somehow got pushed in some and the drum was squeeking as it rotated. I had to order a whole new drum and replace it since on my model it was part of the drum.

Defy autodry tumble dryer

This will be bearing noise, the front of the drum uses a felt strip as a bearing and this can wear causing a metal on metal grinding sound, or it could be the rear bearing. You need to dismantle it to investigate further.
