Kenwood stereo 6 Stack stereo on boat. Doesn't receive AM. FM ok. Doesn't seem to be sensitive to whether the aerial is plugged in or not.

There could be a problem with the port the aerial is plugging into, what you can do is examine the ports for defects ,
1.) open it up
2.) look at the port, there should be solder holding it in place as well as solder holting the connection pins in place.
3.) resolder the pins
4.) turn it back on taking care not to touch the circutis
5.) gently plug back in the antenna and shake it slightly to ensure iys working.
6.) turn it of disconect it and reassemble it.

That should work if not let us know and we can be of further assistance. Do Not Rate Until YOu Are satisfied with your experts Responce or the Problem has been resolved

Tip

Thanks Robotek. Here is what worked for me- the differences is in how you enter...

Hi there, there is a standard procedure we use to bypass the code when we have the gear on the test bench for repair. Try this and it should sort out your problem

You need the remote control to do this, if you don't have one, then you may need to go to a KENWOOD agent and get them to clear the code for you, or purchase one for your use.

KENWOOD KDC SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure

Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit.

The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!

:) POSITIVE FEEDBACK :)
A FixYa rating would be fantastic for helping you out with this techo tip.:)
A FixYa vote is a great reward for the challenge of solving your problem

The kenwood KDC-MP333 in my truck is connected to a set of kenwood speakers. But when I turn it on they won't work the stereo still shows the display but when I turn the stereo on it makes a sort of...

Disconnect the speakers and try it with another speaker or speakers not in the truck. If it works, the speakers or the wires to them are messed up. If it doesn't you probably damaged the output capacitor in the radio by turning it on without speakers attached. Realize that the speakers are part of the radio circuit and act as resistance. Without them, there is no resistance and it puts a strain on the radio.

CANNOT TURN ON DDX512. IT WAS ON AND ALL THE SUDDEN IT WONT COME BACK ON. HOW DO I GET IT TO COME BACK ON ?

1. Check the fuse at the radio and in the vehicles fuse box
2. Check the wiring of the radio to ensure nothing has come loose/disconnected
3. Remove the radio and test it on another power source to ensure it is working properly.

If it's not the fuse (Step 1) I recommend visiting a quality local Car Audio specialist and getting them to assist you.
