SOURCE: amp staying in protection mode

No, this amp is not a heavy power consumer- matter of fact it takes very little power to run.Maybe you should check the fuses on the amp to see if they are what is recommended. Also check your fuse kit to your amp- your fuse might not be big enough. If neither works take it back where u got it.

SOURCE: El1500 turns on but so sound

Hello fordguy, love the name i'm a ford man myself if thats why you chose it. Anyway to the amp. I buy broken amps all the time from E-bay and find which parts are bad order them and replace them and the amps work great. I just bought and recieved the same amp, Bazooka EL1500 and right away when I put power to it the protect light came on. Let me tell ya a little about car amps and the mostly the main reason they go into protect mode. First it could be something small and stupid like a fuse, sometimes amps protect light will still come on even if fuse is blown. Maybe something inside is touching something else causing it to go in to protect mode like lets say a small peice of solder is connecting to solder traces together or whatever, you get the idea. Second and this is I'd say 80% of all protect lights coming on. You either have shorted out output transistors or powersupply mosfets transistors. This is mainly the cause of this all the time. Sometimes though it's not and you have to do further testing. With your amp, I don't know what was going on at the time of when it quit. The capacitor you speak of is fine it's just the protective shrink looks melted cause thats how it was done when amp was made. You need to test all output transistors and power supply mosfets with a digital volt meter set on diode check. Let me know what you find and itf you need help just opost a comment asking for my e-mail and I will taake you thru the steps. If this helps, please rate it so I can get out of this apprentice status.

How many 100 watt light bulbs can I hook to a 20 amp breaker (120 volts)

A 20 Amp breaker will support 2400 Watts with a 120 Volt line.

120 Volts times 20 Amps (Amperes) = 2400 Watts.

Answer? 24 100Watt light bulbs.

HOWEVER, you should always allow 1 cushion of 100 Watts.
That would be 23 100Watt light bulbs.

(Wait until you add electric motors to the equation. Things start getting a little more complicated)

(I always use 20 amp breakers for lighting. 15 amp breakers for lighting is phased out.

Secondly a 20 amp breaker requires using 12-2 or 12-3 wiring. (12/2, 12/3)
SO does the receptacles.
Therefore 12 gauge wiring is used throughout the house, until you come to the heavier loads )

[ 12/2 = 2 insulated conductors, and one bare copper ground wire.
12/3 = 3 insulated conductors, and one bare copper ground wire.

Remember, with 12/2 the Black wire is ALWAYS the Hot wire. White is Common (Neutral). Bare copper is Ground wire.

12/3 has 3 conducting wires.
One Black, one Red, and one White for the Common. (Neutral) Bare copper is Ground.
Used for 3-way switches ]

The xxx 3.0 farad capacitor does not seem to have a remote wire terminal...was wondering how to find and hook up the remote wire.

Caps don't need remote wire. Remote wire goes directly from the deck to the amp, as it turns the amp on. Capacitors main function is to store the power from the battery and pass it on to the amp, thus not needing a wire to turn it on.

I have a 1200 watt amp and 2 12 in pioneer champions and it keeps killing my battery how do I hook up this capasitor I just bought?

first make sure your power wire is directly hooked to the battery, {make sure ure in line fuse is pulled} power wire that goes to positive of power cap , ground wire is grounded to chasis, now attach aditional power wire to amp and aditonal grond to amp . make sure all conections are solid and tight { also make sure inside of power cap is tight as well after long periods of time the insides loosen } i have 2 -1,000 watt sony xploid amps and 2- 1,200 watt sony expoid subs and they pound hard . i probley should have 2-1.2 farrid caps for what i have but it seems that its holding its own

100 watt dhd amp wont turn on

If it's an aftermarket stereo, there's a small blue wire (accessory/antenna) that goes to the amp. So in essence, you have the large cable going to the battery that powers the amp. However, the small power wire going into the amp tells it when to turn on, by the stereo.

Car subwoofer just past half volume cuts off the amp

Assuming there is no short, or lose ground wire somewhere inside the box, diodes( in the amp) are fine, you might be overheating it by not allowing it to get good ventilation. This can be a big deal on some low end Chinese amps. Or the speakers are blown , or your Resistors (in the amp) are bad, but for arguments sake.
Most people don't use the proper size and or conductivity types of wiring, for pushing high amperage Think about it like this, Watts (power) =.Amps (energy) x Voltage (pressure) Resistance or Ohm's (amount) determines how much Wattage will go in or out, Ohms = Volts x2 / Watts.
What gauge wire are you using on your setup?

First you'll need to buy a good quality amp wiring kit. For the torture your battery receives, get a power cap. The higher the farad the better off. And as for sound quality use really good RCA's and speaker wire. Try to keep the amp as close to subs as possible, and speaker wire a the necessary length. Not to long. Be sure to have a good ground.

You're using the wrong control wire. You're likely using a wire marked antenna control. You need to use the one marked amp control. They are both blue.
