Question about Wolf Range Convection Oven Electric Double Deck 70inx40inx43in

1 Answer

Hi there, Could you please help. Yesterday I ran the self clean program on both ovens. Since then I have been unable to get the ovens to heat up. The fan is coming on as if to heat - but no heat. The control panel is reading 'lo preheat'. When I enter a hotter temperature setting they just revert back to Lo Preheat...they are both doing exactly the same thing. Any ideas please? Many thanks Wendy

Check ur circuit breakers, there are two in tandem. One may have tripped.

where do i find the circuit breaker?? :-)

  • rdjagger Mar 27, 2015

You know: fuses, circuit breakers. In a fuse/circuit breaker box on a wall some where. Side of house, garage, closet, basement. Controls all of the electricity that comes into ur house. Ask some old retired guy (like me) in the neighborhood to help you

lol oh, yes I tried that, but the oven still says Low preheat. I thought you meant on the actual oven. All the other electrical appliances work apart from the message on the oven which now doesnt heat??

Did the self clean cycle run properly and completely?

  • wendy
    wendy Mar 27, 2015

    no, the "circuit breaker" tripped

  • rdjagger Mar 27, 2015

well then a couple more things: the circuit breakers may not have fully reset. try tripping the back and forth a couple of times. they are mechanical and made of a bimetal in a spring and might get hung up. do it fast but pause a bit between flips. if that does not work, then it could be that you had a loose connection in your plug, plug in or wire harness connected to the oven. ithe loose connection might have arced and burned out during the self clean. the circuit breakers may be bad and just need to be replaced. hope the flipping works if you have not already tried that. if not, you need that retired guy or an electrician to help you out it believe. most ovens do not have an internal fuse or circuit breaker, but yours might i suppose. check you owners manual or find one online for your make/model. best of luck.

My built-in electric oven will not heat now, following the self-cleaning cycle I ran yesterday.

Frustrating no doubt. There are several things that can cause this and they vary by manufacturer and model. Sometimes the high heat causes a fault in the temperature sensor or its wiring. Other times it causes the control board to fail. We repair a lot of control boards that fail after a self-clean cycle. If you post more details: make, model, any other observations I may be able to shed more light. Or you can email me details at bruce@fixyourboard.com.

There is a overload thermostat on the rear of the oven that will have to be replaced.

Thermador SM272 - Oven not heating after self clean cycle

Your repairman might be right but I would have checked the main heating element first for this reason: The self-clean cycle uses that same element as you need for the oven but is allowed to rise to a much higher temperature (~ 900-950 degrees) during the cleaning cycle and it may have self-destructed. Since your problem started after the cleaning cycle, I would have checked the element for continuity first.
