When hammer or hammer drill action is selected hammer action is not working

The ring of the impact bolt in front inside the locking sleeve where the chisel is driven on can be blocked (also broken part ) but not to see until you remove the parts .

What size chain do I need

You have the information you need. The chain you need should have 56 cutting teeth and be 3/8ths pitch to ensure it fits the drive on the chainsaw and the wheel at the end of the bar. All you have to choose is the type of profile on the cutting teeth. In the UK we have a choice of Chisel or semi Chisel which mean the following. The Chisel has a flat top and sharp angle down to the chain link and although very efficient at cutting only tends to be used by professionals. The semi Chisel has the corner of the tooth rounded between the flat top and the link. This reduces the amount of kick back (but does not eliminate it). It also reduces the vibration a little when cutting. From the number of teeth it sounds like you probably have a 14 or 15 inch bar. If in doubt measure the length from the body of the saw to the end of the bar. Many on line suppliers will be able to sell you a chain but I would recommend you go to a chainsaw supplier the first time to ensure you get exactly what you need then you can order online for your second and subsequent chains.

I have a HILTI TE905 breaker and something is seems wrong with the chuck or the chilsal as it keeps falling out of the end and not gripping it. Is it possible to take the chuck apart to see if I can spot...

I have just dismantled my own TE 905 to see why it was dropping the chisels and have found the following:-

1. The chisel is worn and has almost become too small for the chuck. (mesure the thickness of the chisel at both ends of the hexagonal shaft and see the difference)

2. The chuck is worn and will probably need to be replaced.
I phoned Hilti today and was quoted £100 for ONE PART OF THE CHUCK!!!

a. The chuck as a whole can easily be removed by undoing the four torx screws that hold the chuck on to the main body.

b. The chuck can be dismantled by removing the retaining ring that holds the metal outer case in place at the front of the chuck. This is very fiddly and requires some engineering skill, the use of pointed instruments could easily result in injury.

The third fix is the one I am going to use to 'patch up' my old breaker. This involves welding some small amounts of dissimilar weld onto the points of the hexagonal section at the rear of the chisel then grinding them to near enough the original size of the un-damaged section of the chisel.
This will very crudely stop the chisel from passing the ball bearings inside the chuck. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY HEAT APPLIED TO THE CHISEL WILL CAUSE STRESS AND POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THE CHISEL. ANY MODIFICATIONS OF THIS NATURE COULD RESULT IN INJURY TO PERSONS WORKING AROUND YOU AND ARE NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE WORKING AT HEIGHT OR WITH PEOPLE BELOW YOU. This is a fix that should only be attempted by competent engineers for use on a DIY or small job basis. Hope this helps.

Demolition tool or breaker

The shaft from the motor to the drive gear is likely not working the action of the hammer. There is a gear which spins the gears to achieve the hammer action, suspect the gear is either stripped, broken or both.
