Some SD cards have a slider that will lock and unlock the card just like those old 3.5" floppy disks had.

Sd card error for NV-GX7

If you recently put in a new SD card, there can be a compatibility problem. In your camera only MMC and SC cards will work. These days most new cards are SDHC. Even the 1 and 2 Gbyte cards now are SDHC. Look careful on the card. As soon as you see SDHC, replace the card. Also make sure the lock switch is up, pointing towards the contacts. It is not really a switch, but the little nob. will engage a switch in the camera, telling the camera it should not write to the card.

Write protected card

Look carefully at the SD card. On one side you will find a "lock" switch. The card in question has this switch in the lock position. You can not delete an existing video because the delete function actually requires the ability to update the card which is a writing function. Flip the switch and your problem should be resolved.

Magnavox NB500MG1F Blu Ray Player: I've been having trouble getting the SD card slot to read the videos I put onto the SD card. I've tried everything from converting all the video files to AVCHD file types...

It is obvious to me that the player can't read the video off an SD drive. In my experience that card slot is for installing updated firmware not video material.

Locked and no software disc

Remove the SD card from the recorder and check if the write protection switch is in the locked position. Move it to the unlocked position and carefully replace it without toggling the switch. The switch is on the side of the card nearest the contacts but on the side without the angled notch.

Sometimes the lock switch can become damaged, the best thing to do in that case is to buy a new card. Since there is no data on the card, the time to make a temporary fix isn't worthwhile.

I hope this helps.

Samsung galaxy y sd card is coming up on my screen damaged what can i do to put this right

I think your SD card is corrupted, because nowadays, most of SD card in the market are retrended or expanded from a old card, and android phone will store amount of data in the SD card, so it is easy to corrupted. If you want to fix your card, you can try to formate it in the phone, but it is at the price of data loss. However, if you would like to recover data from samsung galaxy sd card and save to the new one ,you can know more here: Samsung Galaxy SD card Data Recovery, and I suggest you buying a new SD card with good quality.

Toshiba Camileo H30 only records onto built in memory. When I put in an SD card, gives an error message (a yellow exclamation point inside a folder). Please help. The camera is brand new. Regards, AL

The first suggestion would be to check if the SD card is the correct one, and if it is correctly installed. On my Hi-Def Hard Drive Camcorder, when properly installed, the SD card looks like it's "up-side-down" - with the little metal sensors upward. It is easy to accidentally put it in - what seems to me is "right-side-up". Then I see an error message and need to flip it over.

You might also check to see if the metal sensors on the SD card are all intact. Sometimes one of the little metal sensors are slightly out of line or maybe bent.

My sd card is locked i cant save anything or even delete anything without getting a message saying sd card locked how do i unlocke it i already tried resetting my whole phone and still is locked help!!!!

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

The recorder should be formatted only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the recorder’s Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder, so computer formatting is not recommended.

Card error

Just triple-check that you haven't accidentally locked any of the cards.

On an SD card, for example, there is a TINY little white switch on the side that write-protects the card.

Back in the day of audio cassettes, the tab was "felt" by a mechanical arm.. if the tab was present, it could record. If the tab was missing, it would not allow recording. I'm not sure if digital cameras still work like that or not? If so, it could be something like that in your memory slot. =-]
