SOURCE: 2003 yamaha wrf 250 carb problem

(1) You will need to adjust the float pin to get the correct amount of fuel in the float chamber of the carburator.
(2) You will also need to set the air-mixture screw , but before you do tht remove the spark plug and see whats the condition of it, is it black , is it brownish, or is it whitish.
If its blackish = means rich too much of fuel, if its browinsh= ok, if its whitish = its too lean.
(3) As for hesitation, check the needle at carbs piston on the accelerator cable, and blow the main jet with high pressure.
(4) Check too the spark plug gap and if its as per the manufacturers specs.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: not getting enough gas to the carb have to run choke 3/4 engaged

Sounds like a restriction in your carb, not getting enough gas. I would clean out the carb again.

have you checked for vaccuum leaks at the intake manifold? you can check by pouring water over the gasket area when/ if you get it running!

SOURCE: Won't idle without choke

The pilot jet controls the air/gas fuel mix at idle . If the jet gets plugged up not enough gas gets to the emgine at idle. You will need to remove the carbs and float bowls and clean them, paying special attention to the pilot valve. Count the number of turns to remove the pilot screw and replace the same number of turns then turn counter clockwise 1/2 turn.

Echo GT225 has new carb.but will not run without 3/4 choke lines clean spark arrester cleaned, new plug, good compression ,tank vent replaced ? stumped

New carb is supposed to run fine with no choke at all. But I have 2 instances where the new carb would run for sh-- unless I left choke setting at mid point. Went crazy cleaning out new carb, resetting idle and low and high mixture screws to no avail. But both were running great and and gas consumption was fine with that choke setting. Left well enough alone. both start and run great. You might want to do same.

Have a Kohler Courage 18 hp in a Cub Cadet! SPEC PS-SV541-3212! Had bad gas! Dumped and put on a new fuel filter! gas! Did not run before without the choke pulled almost all the way! still same

Remove fuel line at carb. Remove filter, Drain out all old gas from tank. Let all of the fuel run into container if you see trash and water spray carb. Cleaner into tank until all trash and water are no longer seen. Blow out with compressed air if possible.Put all lines back. Remove bowl from carb. Check the bolt you removed from bowl should have a vertical and horizontal orifice through the bolt, make sure it is clean, remove all trash water etc. From bowl making sure the bowl gasket is in place and not pinched. Hopefully it will now start if not probably carb. Overhaul next.

The tractor will start, but runs ruff as if the choke is stuck. When the blades are engadged, it runs worse and can smell gas. Gas smell is in the oil as well.

May not be the carb at all. You have somehow managed to suck gas into the oil. Take the plug out and crank it a few times. It will likely throw excess gas and oil out of the cylinders. I had the same problem with a brand new (5 hrs.) DR Field and Brush Mower that was equipped with a "carbon recapture unit" - a ridiculous new EPA requirement. Rather than a simple vent on the gas cap, these geniuses have put a valve at the top of the gas tank with a hose running back into the carb. No problem until you fill the gas tank and try to mow uphill more than at 25 degree angle. Then, what happens is when the gas level in the tank makes contact with the valve, you wind up with an air filter full of gas and gas/oil in the cylinder. You'll need to replace and gap the plug, drain and replace the oil, install the CRU (if it has one) replace the air filter, and it should be ok. I'm going to bypass this CRU. The EPA, for all the good work they do, gags on a gnat but swallows a camel. Good luck. P.S. My DR is still in the shop.

Hi my yamaha 25 6L2 runs with choke on but when i go to put my choke in the engine will run for about 10 secoundsthen start bogging out it sound to me that the was no fuel getting to the carbs but i...

Runs with the choke on..!??.... the choke cuts off the air supply or in some cases adds extra fuel.. With respect to both, ..they accomplish one thing.. the richen up the fuel mixture..SO with that..,, your engine is starving for fuel ... Its usually the low speed jets are clogged...there are numerous SMALL air and fuel passages that are sometimes hard to clean properly.. Take the carbs to a qualified professional and let him clean and set them.. (if you removed any of the screws that affect the jetting/air/fuel mixture/idle circuit,, they MUST be set back to the factory settings)..

I have cleaned the gas tank, fuel lines and rebuilt the carb. It now runs but just at idle almost in the choke position. I have played with the throttle and it wants to die when I move it to normal ru

if it runs only in choke it sounds like its lean (choke reduces airflow and gets back to a mixture it will run on.....just). It could just be a small bit of crud in the carby jet. You cleaned the fuel system.....did you install or replace a fuel filter? sometimes cleaning the tank and lines stirs up stuff that needs to be filtered.....even though you may had cleaned and rinsed out a lot.

After about 30 minutes engine will start surging, by partly pulling the choke out it will run better. The carb has been recently rebuilt as well as new filter and fuel line to carb. Tried different fuel...

Typically a surge is caused by a lean condition. I'd say the float is set to low and this is causing the engine to lean out & when you apply the choke it richens it back up.and the surge stops.

Engine only runs with choke full on. Dies when off full choke.

Hi Dave, it sounds crazy, but try this. Check your gas cap. It could be clogged, causing a vacuum to occur in the tank, and therefore not allowing the carb. to take on gas. It usually take 10-15 min. for this to occur. The next time you run the mower and it starts to stall out, loosen the gas cap and see if it begins to run again. If it does, then you know that the gas cap is clogged.

Need carburetor adjustment

I had a similar problem with my 23 hp briggs. While cleaning the carb I found that the great gas we get today had eaten the seal around one of the jets in the throttle body causing it to fall out. Replaced the jet and now runs like a champ. Hope this helps.
