Question about Saeco Vienna De Luxe Espresso Machine

Vienna Deluxe Coffee Machine - Water doesnt heat up

We have had the machine for about two years and performed fairly regular maintenance (descaling, cleaning). Recently the machine has been left on longer than usual by a few unruly officemates. Not long after, it stopped dispensing good coffee, instead emitting weak, cold watery coffee.

It doesnt seem like a clog, since the AMOUNT of water dispensed is accurate and there are no visible problems with the grind unit or the packing unit and no visible leaking of water. We tried priming it by dispensing water from the pannarello, which eventually became hot. But no luck on the coffee side, the water warmed up only gradually and never became hot, just lukewarm. Furthermore, whereas in the past the middle LED (indicating the water had heated) would flash for several seconds (taking longer to flash when descaling was necessary) now just turns on immediately.

To my mind it appears as though the instrument believes the water is hot enough. I suspect the problem is the temp sensor or the chip that interprets that sensor. Has anyone tried to fix these?

Or is there some other probable cause?

To recap: cold watery coffee is resulting. No settings have been changed, all the conditions (beans, water, etc) are identical to before.

Indeed the heat sensor can be busted. Not a difficlult fix but time consuming as you need to get the whole machine appart.
Go to the saeco site and look in their parts list of your machine. It tels you the part number for the sensor. and you can order it anywhere.
Your boiler can be damaged too.
Kind regards eric

Saeco Vienna deluxe is slow functioning post power on. 3 to 5 min. for the middle green light remain on. Press brew switch takes a 2-3 min. for the pump 2 activate. Once activated, coffee flows fine.

Machine is screaming for descaling. The Calcium deposits in the system are slowing down heating.
Do not think of using Vinegar.
Do not use R.O water or consider water is very soft in your area. There is nothing like that.

How can I descale my Saeco Vienna without beans in the hopper?

Hi
Never run descaling solution through the brew unit. You should never descale the machine hot either.
1. To decalcify your boiler, remove your water tank and fill it with hot water (100 to 120 degrees). Open a pack of decalcifier and mix into the water tank. Place the tank back on the machine, then turn the machine on.
2. Open the steam knob and run approximately eight ounces of solution into a spare container. Turn the machine off and let set about 10 to 15 minutes. It is very important that the machine does not remain on to heat the boiler anymore than necessary.
3. Repeat step #2 for your type of machine. Do this until you have consumed the entire water tank of solution (approximately four to five cycles) .
4. Remove water tank and rinse it with fresh water.
5. Refill the water tank with fresh water and place it back on the machine.
6. Repeat step #2 to rinse the machine, only this time use the entire water tank at one time, and there is not need to let it set. Done, refill your tank and run some water, and you are ready to go.

How & where do I lubricate my Saeco Magic Deluxe?

Never.
The machine does not need lubrication, not even on the coffee grinder. If gears lubrication is needed, that is exceptional, and must be performed by the technician. Normally the machine must not be lubricated.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning and descaling, follow instructions from page 34 on the user manual downloadable here.
Regards.

How do I descale my Saeco Vienna Deluxe?

Purchase the Saeco descaler. Mix solution accordingly. Pour into water tank. Run a cappucino cup full of water through the wand. Wait about 20 minute and repeat. Do this until all the water is gone in the tank. (Don't run all the water at once!). Rinse water tank well. FIll with clean water and run through the wand. I do this twice just to be sure I have gotten all the chemical out.

When i try to brew coffee hot water pouring from under the machine cover and no coffee comes out

Hi
Leaking under the machine usually means 1 of 2 things. You have a ruptured hose or your boiler is leaking. Both are repairable. There are 2 types of boilers in the Saeco machines depending on its age. The newer machines have a stainless coiled tube in an aluminum heater. This would probably be a hose. The older boilers were a 2 piece with a gasket that will leak if not taken care of by descaling on a regular basis and done correctly. No excessive heat when descaling. Turn the machine on, then run descaler through the wand by opening the knob for water. Run 8 nozs through the wand then turn the machine off and let it set. Do this until the descaler is gone. The rinse with a tank of fresh water.

How do I get the steam to work?

If it will make coffee then you have a horse shoe boiler blockage or a steam valve blockage.
Try descaling first. If this does not work you will have to disassemble machine and trace the water lines back from the steam wand to the high pressure pump to detrmine where the blockage is. This can be trickey and is best left to someone with experience with this type of fix.
