SOURCE: computer keeps restarting in safe

IT CAN BE
OVERHEATING
1: CPU
2: NO FAN IN SIDE THE SYSTEM
3: POWER SUPPLY RUNNING TO HOT
4: HARD DRIVE FAILURE - the smart feature would cause the hard drive to reboot and if the power supply had been running hot sounds like it might have been hit by a surge

SOURCE: unable to reboot

Sounds to me like you have a bad or dying power supply. Try finding a friend with a working power supply and hook it up to your computer, if the problem ceases, then go get yourself a new power supply. If the problem persists, it may be an issue with cables or the fuse, maybe even a bad motherboard.

Your hard drive might be on the way out

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen.

Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.

select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive

you should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer or

Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue and then replace the file.

Type the following command and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

hope this helps

Keeps restarting does not bootup in safe mode also

if safe mode does not work, try OS repair or reinstalled. This can indicate a corrupted OS. If reinstalling does not work either, it may indicate hardware failure. Try to isolate it by removing and reconnecting all components like RAM, hard disk, CD or DVD drive, battery and AC adapter and see how it goes.

Display problem

welcome to the forum! From safe mode open 'display properties', then 'settings'. It should show a screen area of 640 x 480 and 16 colors. Click 'apply' and 'OK'. It should give you a message that you're changing the settings for normal mode. Click to confirm that. Then shut down and restart in normal mode. It should boot OK to thedesktop.
Then you need to figure out what happened. Since they were both the same laptop the video drivers should be the same, or was one of the laptops using an external monitor?
Check in device manager and see if it shows a problem with the video adapter. If so you may need toreinstall the video drivers. If not, try the recommended video settings for the laptop.

Memory card showing 'no image' after trying to upload

Sounds like you didn't use the "safely remove hardware" function when you disconnected the USB cable. This can corrupt the card and even the camera. You could try using a separate card reader to download the pics from the card. If that works, and the pics are safely downloaded, then you should format the card in the camera to erase and optimize it. If it doesn't work, take the card to a Walmart that has a Kodak Picture Kiosk and it should be able to read your card. You can print the pics or even make a cd of them. Then, format the card in the camera.

Hi !

Thank you for choosing the Fixya.com

Cause: A thirdparty driver/software crashing the windowing subsystem. Windows hascome up with a kernel change that, if Windows crashes, it'll reboot themachine rather than going to the blue screen.

Step 1: Firstunplug all the external devices, like printer, internet connection, camera, external harddrive etc. Isolate the machine with keyboard, mouse, monitor & that's all should be connected to the machine.

Step2:Now, restart the machine try to boot in to the Windows Advanced MenuOption by pressing the F8. Try disabling "Automatic restart on systemfailure, So that you can get the BSOD & the troubleshootaccordingly. Need more help about, how to boot in to Safe Mode, checkthis article:

Step3: If you are able to boot in to the Safe Mode, Check if you can undothe changes that caused this problem, If you can't remember. Try SystemRetore.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

Step 4: Still no joy, Configure the computer in Clean Boot.

Also, perform Windows Update & 80% of time it'll fix it for you.

Hope this will be helpful.
