When i unzip the file i downloaded for ricoh mp 171 spf. i can not install the software

Try doing a reset on it. If that doesn't work, take it to a Ricoh Service Centre.

exhaust fan is not working. replace

mp 171 has no waste toner container. it recalculates toner back to developer section.

Reseting SC 543 error code on Ricoh copier

Press CLEAR MODE(yellow) key,
Press 1 , 0 , 7
Press and hold down CLEAR/STOP (red) key for more 5 sec.
Press in the SP Mode( on the touch pane)

Go to sp5810 and reset SC code

Open the front door turn OFF the power main switch, and turn it ON

It is actually sold as the same model here, and also a Ricoh AC205L. (Ricoh owns and builds all machines for Gestetner).
I don't have any real familiarity with this unit, But i know you need use the "Smarthru 4" software to use the OCR feature. You can download it from the Ricoh site here if you need to:
