The idle seems to have a mind of its own. I will adjust it to a smooth idle when standing still and it holds for 30 seconds or so. Then all on its own it begins to rev really high. Occasionally it slows down again after the same amount of time, but then shortly after revs high again. Along with that it seems quite sluggish at low rpm, but when at mid range it smooths out and is more responsive to the throttle. Even if I scream my RPMS as soon as I shift to the next gear it run sluggish again until mid RPMS. Thanks for any assistance.

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

Good news > save your money on the clutch. Bad news > Invest it in new shift forks. What you describe is a standard symptom of bent shift forks. Sorry to be the one to tell you this.

My 'wing won't run unless it has been warmed up some. I would suggest that you r&r your carbs to make sure the jets in the bottom are working correctly. They tend to get plugged up, especially after sitting & the aluminum flaking off inside... Rick

It does sound like its getting to much fuel, or the lack of air. Air filter ok? If it is you might need to have a compression check done to see how the piston rings are.
