Ok so I backed up my ps3 saves on a sandisk cruzer glide 16gb flash drive and then my dog chewed it the day I needed it and the metal was bent a little but went back to its original position easily. It doesn't light up when its plugged in though. Can anyone help me out on how to fix it? And if not is there anyway to retrieve my data and put it on another flashdrive?

If you are able, remove the flash drive cover and check for breaks or cracks on the pcb.

Is this a cable or satellite DVR box? Many of those boxes have their USB ports disabled by the cable company.

See if it has an optional HINT button under the password prompt. If not, take your lumps and buy a new one.

How do you save files on a sandisk cruzer flash drive?

Insert the cruzer into the usb port. You should see a message pop up and say new hardware found and then flash off. It may also say usb memory or storage device or even recognize it as the cruzor. This recognition process is fairly quick say 5-10 seconds. After that the computer knows what the cruzer is and its ready for use.

The cruzer is now seen as another drive or storage drive on your computer. Your hard drive is usually C , the CD/DVD would be D drive and the cruzer would be seen as E. If you are in a program and want to save to the cruzer you open the file/save and you should see E drive or Cruzer if not click on my computer and look for it there. Once you find it just click on it and then hit save/ok. Thats all there is to using one. Once you know how to find it as a save option or a loading option then you just treat it like a hard drive.

Once you get it sorted out you will use it a lot. They are very handy.

Flash drive was connected to laptop, someone leaned on it and bent it, now data access is gone. How do I fix it?

You need to pry apart the plastic casing, and then remove the metal outer jacket from the usb connector. It's probably broken when the usb plug's metal contacts connect to the circuit board. You'll need to either solder or somehow connect those points together. Don't fool with putting the metal jacket back on, just plug the port blade into the computer. You may be able to rescue your data, but you probably own't be able to save the drive after that.

Who can fix my 1 gb cruzer? It has a bent port

Dog bites can be tough, they have beautiful teeth that can do some severe damage to a flash drive. I would be happy to get your data back for you. I run a simple mail in service here: http://happydatarecovery.com/

I bent the metal usb connector on my 4gb cruzer and the light flashes one time and system wont recognize device.

I had the same situation happen to me. My flash drive was in my computer on my coffee table and my dog tripped over the power wire for the laptop and it hit the floor bending the flash drive to about a 22 degree angle. I gently grasped the metal portion that inserts into the usb port and slowly bent it back to the original position and it worked fine. Two weeks later my dog ate the damn thing!! If you attempt to bend it back, make sure that you do not use pliers or any tool that may crush the metal portion or bend it out of shape. If you have an old computer or a usb port on a wire or hub, insert it, and bend it by hand. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Can't open my sandisk cruzer 16gb

Dont worry about being prompted, that is an OS option and you may of turned off by accident. When you insert the flash drive into your USB port, does th elight on the drive ligh up? If not your flash drive may of gone bad.

If it does light up, click on "My Computer" and see if it shows up there.
