How can I speed up my computer?

How long ago was Windows installed? Over time, the system will get slower. This is not unusual. It may be time to backup all your data and re-install Windows as a fresh build. This will improve things significantly. Depending on what hardware specs you are running, this could be impacting performance as well. Vista was always heavy on resources.

My internet speed is really slow. What can i do to speed it up?

mcdevito75 here, Many things can slow up yours or any internet, Try this, from your desktop, click on RE-CYCLE bin and emty it, form your home page, right click tools (top of page) now cerefully, CAREFULLY read every word and delete cookies, and other items you really don"t need right now, check the box next to each item, READ EVERY WORD BEFORE DELETEING ANY THING. After this, from your home page, type in search, Super Anti Spy Ware, they have a free version that I run every day to get rid of potential viruses and internet ads that slow up your computer, READ EVERY WORD BEFORE YOU DO ANTHING. If your not comfortable with doing these things with your computer You may be new to doing these computer functions, then from Start, lower left side of screen, click start, the Help and support, they too can help with internet speed. READ EVERY WORD BEFORE DOING ANY THING WITH YOUR COMPUTER.

Computer has 866mhz speed(cpu), 256mb ram but still so slow help

The switches are not something that the average person would need to change. The BIOS can impact the speen but you don't say what you are doing that seems slow. Other things that can cause this are internet speed, lack of ram, too many programs open, antivirus software etc.

Slow

It isn't your Internet it's Vista. But there is some things you can do to help that bloated POS OS operate better.

1) In control panel go into the system and select the advanced tab. Under performance set it to optimize for performance. It'll take away all the bling and return those resources to your applications.
2) Use Chrome, Opera, Firefox, or any other browser then IE. Microsoft has openly stated that they are not designing for speed but appearance. That means slow Internet connections become lethargic on Vista.
3) Get rid of toolbars...Google toolbar, Yahoo toolbar, Weatherbug, AOL Toolbar. They are all just slowing you down.
