SOURCE: Every time I press the

Hi,

In general Oven troubleshooting, this error (feature not available) appears because the clock cannot process two features at once and the oven is running even when it is off. This problem is being caused by a bad control board. The control board has the oven temp control in it. If the control board is not working properly, it can, most of the time, make the oven run even when it is off executing a process on its own thus unable to process "another" requests at the same time. You can buy this part and replace it. Just a tip though, I would probably look at the cost versus replacement before you get into it to much.

What is the brand/model of your Oven? Can you post more details here like; when the problem started, how it happened and what was the last time you were doing before it happened.

We're happy to provide you further diagnosis and troubleshooting help.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My double oven by whirpool is displaying a message saying "feature not available" when I press the bake

First thing i would do is turn the circuit barker off to oven for one minuet and then turn it back on. feature not available is gone then press bake and start bake cycle. monitor the oven for 1 minute to ensure the error code does not display again. If it dose then you will need to get a repair service company to come check it out. they will have to enter the diagnostic mode and check for any other fault codes to make sure there is not something else causing the problem before the control board is replaced.

1c2c is on controls of jenn air wall oven. not working m#JMW8530DAS

We've had a Jenn-Air wall oven & microwave, Model #JMW9530DAS for 9 years. We never had any problems with it except for the irritating dust that collects between the oven glass. After returning from a 10 day vacation, we got a 1c2c error code when pressing "Bake." The oven worked fine before we left so we were baffled. We tried other settings like "Broil" "Convect" to no avail. It kept telling us to call for assistance. We tried shutting off the power to the unit for a few minutes but got the same 1c2c error again. So we called a local appliance repair shop (associated to the appliance store we purchased the unit from) and paid a fee to have him assess the problem. He really couldn't pinpoint the problem but suggested it "could be the membrane or the controller." And, to top that, he said Jenn-Air stopped making the membrane but they are going to start making them again and we could get one in 6-8 months at a cost of $500. So now we were looking at a $300 controller & possible $500 membrane....plus labor. We were so frustrated that we decided to tackle the problem ourselves before going out and buying a new oven. We shut the power off and tried pulling the oven out of the wall. Too heavy. After about 20 minutes of the power off, we turned it back on and decided to use the "SetUp" feature as if we were using the oven for the first time, following the directions in the instruction manual. We stepped through the process (clock, auto convect, language, C/F, etc...) then pressed the "Convect" button (instead of "Bake") and voila! It worked! After the Convection Bake Preheat worked successfully, we pressed "Bake" and it worked, too. We just saved ourselves over a thousand dollars as we were going to get rid of the piece of junk. So, before you give up, try turning the power off for a half hour & use the SetUp key and walk through the process.

The LOC on messsage appears on the screen when we go toturn the oven on. NEED the OVEN. What could we do to fi it?

The control lock has been activated. This feature is useful when you are cleaning the panel so that you don't accidently start the oven or the self-cleaning cycle. Try pressing Bake and Broil Hi/Lo together for 2 seconds (or a bit longer). SF should appear in the display. Then press Self Clean and Start. (When you press Self Clean the LOC message should disappear.)

Manuals for most GE appliances are available here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/ . Enter the model number and click Submit. The direct link to the manual for the JTP18WWWW is: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=981140017.PDF .

I hope this helps.

I turn the oven to 350 degrees and it never gets hot.

First, I guess we need to define hot. If you mean hot enough to bake whatever it is you wanted to bake, then it's possible, if this is a unit that has a "timed bake" feature, that someone neglected to put the control back in manual mode, after having used the "timed bake". If this happened, then the oven will only heat to 160 - 180 degrees, and will maintain that temp. It's called a keep warm setting, which is designed to keep the food that was recently baked, warm, until someone can come get it out and served. Check this feature if you have it and see if it's in manual mode, if not change it and the oven should heat up to 350 and beyond.
If there is NO "timed bake" feature, and there's some heat, just not enough to get to a bake mode, then it's possible that the oven's ceramic glo igniter is cracked and not heating to the point that it allows the oven's safety gas valve to open for gas flow to the burner. If there's no heat at all, the problem could still be the igniter, but it could also be electronic control box feeding the igniter. These things must be checked by a tech with an ohmmeter, and possibly replaced.

I need to disable my ovens auto shut off

The control is automatically set to turn off the oven after 12 hours baking or 3 hours broiling should you forget and leave the oven on. If you want to remvoe this feature do the following steps: 1. Press and hold, at the same time, the BAKE and BROIL buttons for 3 seconds, until the display shows "SF". 2. Press the DELAY START TIME button. The display shows "12Shdn" for 12 hour shut off. Press the DELAY START TIME button again. The display will show "no Shdn" for no shut off. 3. Press the START button.
