No matter what I do the mp3s will not play in the correct order from the USB drive. Has anyone had any luck fixing this issue?

- Thanks for the suggestion, that was the first thing I tried. I have also tried formatting the usb drive (to make sure that I start with a fresh drive), writing the files to the folders I want with the names I want (that would adhere to the way the manual says the files should play), then using a program that alters the files sort order at the properties level of the files. All to no avail. I have tried several more complex ways to solve this issue, but nothing has helped. I even tried customer support who could not solve my issue. I guess there is a bug in my unit. Thanks anyway.
Ive just had the same problem with my Kenwood KDC-W6041U What has worked for me was to rename the tracks at the beginning of the file name i.e. 01-track 02-track
Not track-01 track-02

Thank you so much. This was the problem. I didn't realize the system wanted the number to precede the name. Now I don't have to buy a new radio!!!

If you are just dumping the files all into the root directory they will simply play in the order that they were copied to the USB device.
You can change the order of play to whatever you want by creating separate folders and doing a "cut" and "paste" of the MP3 files. Look at the tree contained on page 16 of your manual. It shows the first track played will be the 1st file in the 1st folder. Then successive tracks in the same folder. Then the 1st file of the 1st nested folder, and so on. When all of the files in all of the nested folders have been played, it will advance to the 2nd folder and play the 1st file. Ad Infinitum, until the last file in the last folder.
After arranging your songs in folders in the sequence you want them to be played, you can use the search by entering the Multi Jog Select Mode, turn the Control Knob to switch between folder/file, and press the Control Knob to select the folder/file. Return to the previous folder by pushing the Control Knob LEFT. Return to the root folder by holding the Control Knob LEFT for at least 2 seconds.
Hope this helps.
