I'm assuming this is a split sysyem in a closet type location? Unplug the electricity and pull off the panels. It should quickly become apparent whether the piping has pulled loose or the drain is plugged. If the water is spilling uniformally across the unit it is probably plugged and can be fixed with some drain cleaner.

It could be that the pan that catches the water has rusted through, how old is the unit? Is there water in the condensate pan? Very important. And does it appear that the unit is level? I'm still assuming we're talking about a central heater A\C system.

Chiller power pack controlled by ranco temp control won't shut down compressor once it reaches set temperature just runs and runs and runs

There are a few potential reasons why your chiller may not be shutting down even when it reaches the set temperature:
  1. Faulty temperature control: If the Ranco temperature control is faulty, it may not be sending the correct signal to shut off the compressor and fan. Try replacing the temperature control to see if this resolves the issue.
  2. Incorrect wiring: Make sure that the compressor and fan motor are wired correctly through the Ranco temperature control. If the wiring is incorrect, the temperature control may not be able to properly control the chiller.
  3. Dirty condenser coil: A dirty condenser coil can cause the chiller to run constantly as it struggles to cool the refrigerant. Check the condenser coil and clean it if necessary.
  4. Low refrigerant charge: If the chiller is low on refrigerant, it may run constantly as it tries to maintain the set temperature. Have a technician check the refrigerant level and add more if necessary.
  5. Faulty compressor: A faulty compressor may continue to run even when the set temperature is reached. Have a technician check the compressor to see if it needs to be repaired or replaced.

I have a uaka-018jaz outside Central air unit. The other day the unit is still running but nothing is blowing out of the vent inside house in floor. The condenser or coils in the vent frosted

First you have to make sure the blower motor is running. That is the fan motor on the indoor unit. If the fan inside is running and the filter is clean you are likely low on refrigerant. If the indoor fan is not running this would be the reason for the frost. If the unit is iced up turn the system to off and the fan to on on the tstat. This will help defrost the coil. Good Luck.

My freezer does not seem to be working food is still frozen that has been in there a while, but it has a feels rather warm on the outside, half way down the freezer

Hello Donna;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You did not provide a model number which on the inside liner of your fresh food section near the top.

Your freezer cooling coil (Evaporator) sucks in all of the heat out of the air in your freezer. This hot refrigerant then goes down to the bottom of your refrigerator and runs through either a condenser coil or a fiber canister. There is a fan that blows into the canister or across the condenser coil. This is where the heat from the freezer is discharged.

If the freezer side is warn and the divider between the freezer and refrigerator is hot - this is where the hot refrigerant is returning to the condenser on the bottom for cooling.

Ok, lets do a temporary fix so you do not leave all of your food product:

1.) Remove bottom front kicker/toe plate. Some are held on with a 2 screws. One on each side and others are held on with clips where you just pull off the the bottom kicker plate.
2.) On each side in the front are leveling screws. These need to be raised so you can pull the unit out to get behind it. I use a pair of channel locks. Investing $10.00 at Lowe's or home depot is going to save you allot of money at this point.
3.) If you have the condensing coils in the front, the coils need to be vacuumed out.
4.) Having pulled you unit out far enough to get behind it,
5.) Unplug the unit.
6.) In the back there is a bottom cover, either cardboard or metal. Unscrew and remove the cover.
7.) Your condenser cooling fan is on the lower right side. If there is a round fiber canister vacuum this.
8.) Plug in your unit. Is the fan running? It may have been stuck from grime and started to run when you moved the unit.
9.) If the fan is not running tap the fan blade with a screw driver to get it to run.
10.) If the fan does not run - take a regular house hold fan and positing the fan to blow under your unit if you have coils or into the canister.

Your unit should start cooling down in about 30 minutes.

You need to replace the fan. The fan is easy to replace. Just a few screws.

I need your model number. You can go to Sears a purchase a fan or go into the internet a purchase a fan for 60% less.

Sub zero 736 condenser fan not running

You will need to remove the cover around the condenser fan motor then remove the screws holding it down to the base. Remove the wiring from the junction box and away you go. Do not run the unit without a working condenser fan motor, you run the chance of causing yourself many other problems. With a new fan motor the unit should run fine unless there is waxing in the cap tube from overheating. Good luck

The rubber on the fridge & freezer doors are hot

pull out the machine, remove the front bottom kick plate and then go to the back and remove the back bottom panel, check to see if the condenser fan blade is spinning and check the condenser coil to see if it's loaded with lint and dust.the fridge is running to hot,the way it cools down is the condenser fan blows air around to keep the machine cool and heat escapes through the condenser coil,if it's blocked with dust the heat is held in the coil,a shop vac works great for the coil, vac up as much dust as you can and then set the vac up on blow and blow the dust out of the coil, the coil will either be in the back or on the very bottom of the machine,if the fan isn't running try spinning the blade,it might run or something could be stuck in it,i've found from a piece of paper to a mouse stuck in the blade,if it is the blade you can leave the back panel off and stick a house fan back there to cool down the machine until you get a new motor,if the motor does run after you spin it i would still change it out as soon as possible,if it stops again you could damage the compressor and then it's new fridge time.you should clean the coil at least once a year.hope this helps and next time you need help send the brand name and the model number off of the machine that you need help with

Hi, I have a GE side by side GSS23LSTA refrigerator The last few days it has been running constantly. The refrigerator side temperature is fine at 35 degrees, but the freezer temp is staying at around 12...

Hi Mark and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Touch the front of the unit where the doors close and feel if it is very very warm to the touch. If it is very warm to the touch... here are the prime suspects:
1. condenser coils covered in lint
2. condenser fan not running or running slow.

An easy way to determine if there is a condenser fan or coil fan problem is to simply direct a floor fan at the base if the refrigerator. If it cools down substantially in an hour.... there is a problem with the coils being clogged or the condenser fan not running. If that makes no difference... before opening the back of the unit... inspect the back wall of the freezer compartment for any signs of ice build up. If you see ice-build up.... unplug the unit.. remove freezer contents and direct that fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. Then return the unit to normal service.... If the temps come down to normal... for 2 - 3 days then start creeping up again... you have an automatic defrosting problem.

Forgot to mention... make sure the evaporator fan is running at full speed.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Turn thermostat on, cooling fans kick in, i can feel compressor with my hand moving but no cooling inside freezer or fridg

Hi, you say the fan in the freezer kicks on? You also have a fan located by your compressor and coil which is the condenser fan motor and condenser coil. This fan must also be running when the compressor is on.Make sure that the coil down below is clean on the front of it as it draws air across this coil to keep the internal head pressures down. Check all of these things. The small copper line coming off the compressor, discharge line should be almost hot. The larger of the lines is the suction line and will be very cool, almost condensating . If not, you may have developed a small freon leak which will cause these problems. Make sure that everything I said is working and clean, and if the small motor in the rear bottom is not running, you can get a new one at a appliance parts house and 2 wires will replace it. Do all of this and keep me posted.

CW-XC243HU A/C Water Spray

Hi, It probably needs cleaned. Window units naturally create water in the evaporator area. The water is suppose to drain to the back of the unit through passage ways to the condensing area where the slinger ring on the condenser fan blade slings it into the condenser coil making it more efficient. There is usually a drain hole to drain excess water from the back of the unit. Any dirt or algae in the pathway of this water or the wrong tilt will cause water to build up and drip or blow out the front. Anything touching the evaporator coil allowing water to run down the obstacle into the wrong area will cause the same thing. reduced air flow will cause the evap to freeze which could also cause a water problem. Since the tilt is right and it doesn't seem to be freezing, Maybe a temporary increase in tilt and a dropper of bleach at the base of the evaporator would do it. This will kill the algae and may unblock the water flow. NOTE: It may also cause stains on a carpet or floor if the bleach water drips onto it. If you want to pull it out and clean it, most units can be pulled out of the housing and sprayed with a water hose but you need to be careful not to get water in the electrical parts of the unit. They can be covered with plastic or foil. Make sure you unplug the unit before trying to remove it. You may have to remove some screws to remove it from the housing. Hope this has helped. kstfas
