Rowenta 1500 garmet steamer no longer makes steam

Someone else had this fix and it worked for me: (yay!)
*Remove water tank and collapse the hanger bar.
*Remove two screws at base of hose and work the hose off. It will come out.
*Unplug unit and hold over your kitchen sink with the hose inlet pointing into the sink.
* use your kitchen sink sprayer to forcefully spray water into this hole and it will come back out again releasing the gunk that has been stopping up the unit.
* for good measure, I also used the sink sprayer to flush out the hose.
Put everything back together. And make sure it is dry before you plug it in.
VOILA!!! WORKS GOOD AS NEW. HAPPINESS!

Check the hose for something clogging it. It will be past the flattened area (by that I mean further from the steam cleaner). It sounds like something got stuck in the hose, and as the steam cleaner kept sucking on the hose, it caused the hose to flatten.

My rowenta steamer is not producing steam but tubing getting hot when I turn on steamer. Suggestions?

see this causes and fix it. God bless you

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .

If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.

If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.

If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

Swan steam generator iron not steaming

The steam vents may be blocked. Add some vinegar into your iron box and try to steam for a few time. then clean the steam vent gently with a tooth pick. Drain out the added vinegar and start using your steamer as usual.

Clean iron?

Hello tcant....
  • 1 Fill the iron's steam receptacle with white vinegar or CLR, a product used to clean coffee pots. CLR is available in department stores.

  • 2 Plug in and set the iron to its steam setting.
  • 3 Operate as usual. When the vinegar or CLR begins to steam, operate the iron as you would normally. Press it over an old, clean towel as the vinegar or CLR loosens sediment and dirt from the appliance.
  • 4 Continue ironing until all of the cleaning solution has steamed out. Repeat the cleaning process if necessary until the iron no longer oozes discolored liquid and the ironing surface is clean.
  • 5 Fill the iron steamer receptacle with distilled water and set the appliance to steam.
  • 6 Continue steaming until the smell of vinegar or CLR is gone.
  • 7 Prevent future mineral buildup by using distilled water for steam in your iron, rather than tap water. Joe. Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Low steam due to clogged vents

Only clean your Rowanta 980 with clear filtered water only. The unit comes with a small hose and faucet adapter to flush the steam tank thru the threaded plug when cold. Do not use hard tap water, that is where most of the mineral deposits come from. The other is storing the iron with water in it without purging all steam/water tank dray. Do this several times running dry with the burst of steam over towels to blow as much of the stuff out as possible. A new sole plate will cost close to $90 or so if you want to replace rather than clean it.

What happens if I use CLR in my steam iron? I have an expensive European style iron which is no longer producing steam. I have bought an iron descaler/cleaner and have repeated its use. I tried the...

The steam tank may not be heating because of mineral deposits in the tank. But also do this check first. Open up the tank reservoir cold, and drain all water out, (is it clean inside there when you shine flashlight in there? Rinse with clear filtered water only (low minerals).

Do not use CLR or anything agressive in there. You should have the main unit in full steam mode and the iron control also in full steam mode. Leave one tablespoon of water in the tank, put back together and let the pressure build. Put a clean towel on your ironing board and when iron is at full pressure and heat, hit the burst of steam and look at what comes out of the sole plate. If you see lots of white deposits look at the sole plate and see if the white chunks are coming out steam holes.

When using iron, run it till steam/water tanks are dry, the burst of steam is used in this case to clean the iron of all standing water. Pull the reservoir and allow to cool...once tank is cool drain it as well. Doing this several times should help purge unit of the heavy mineral deposits.

My steam iron will not steam. How do I clean it?

Mix (1 to 5 parts) white vinegar in distilled water and pour into the reservoir. Let sit for an hour or so, then pour out through a coffee filter into a container, then pour back into the iron for another hour. At this point, heat the iron and try the steamer function. The vinegar solution will clean deposits from the steam jets, so don't try to iron anything yet. Keep running solution through until sputtering stops. Wash out the reservoir with distilled water, then refill and steam wash the ports several times to remove the vinegar. If you can get it clean, continue to use only distilled water in the iron.
