If it's a true engaged tone, the bluetooth speaker has connected to a telephone.

It can't be a "busy signal". Is the device charged or charging?

Nortel startalk one of my extensions keeps getting calls and when answered there is just a busy signal on the other end. What is causing this?

If answering live call and is busy signal on the other end then could be a recording from far end....call a tech in.

If voice mail message is busy signal it could be same as above or Disconnect Supervsision is not programmed on the lines and with the carrier.....this detects when caller hangs up then system knows to hang up, if does not hangup then you get busy signal.

Call waiting

call waiting is something which is not handeld by phone. This option has to be included in your service agreement with phone company. The easiest way to check is to keep line busy and make call to the telephone number. If you get busy signal , you do not have call waiting. If it rings, you should hear short mute on your new phone

Fax machine error

I called Kodak support and had to upgrade firm software and reset all the settings to reflect whether I had an answering machine (yes) and call waiting (no). Also found it helpful sometimes to dial out using commas after the 1, to keep it from ringing busy.
