Just because a drive icon does not appear on the desktop of your Mac does not mean it isn't seen by the Mac OS. It may simply not be in "disk mode". Did you get the dialog box on the iPod that tells you the battery is extremely low? You will have to allow the battery to fully recharge if that is the case. Apple's website has excellent tips to try for resetting, forcing disc mode, etc.
Try connecting it and then opening iTunes to see if that particular app sees it. You can also use the provided disk repair/format utility supplied with the Mac OS to format the drive in the iPod if it has become corrupted, then use iTunes to restore factory software to it and then re-sync your stuff to it afterward.

Go to Windows Explorer where the iPod drive is displayed (mine showed as the G drive. Right click and select Eject.

This issue is documented in Microsoft Knowledge Base document 297694, "New Drive or Mapped Network Drive Not
Available in Windows Explorer".;en-us;297694

Changing the drive letter of your network volume should resolve the issue. If you are unable to change the drive letter of the network volume because your programs depend on a specific drive letter, then you can use the following steps to change the drive letter of your iPod instead.

Important: Changing the iPod drive letter may not affect what letter the iPod uses on subsequent connections, so it is not the best long-term solution. If you are unable to change the drive letter of your mapped network drives, contact your system administrator.
Change the Drive Letter

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Double click on Administrative Tools. Note: If you don't see Administrative Tools, look at the left column in Control Panel for a link that says, "Switch to Classic View," and click it.
  3. Double click on Computer Management.
  4. In the left column, click on Disk Management.
  5. Locate the iPod and right click on it, then click Change Drive Letter and Paths
  6. Click the Change button.
  7. Use the drop-down menu to select a new drive letter. Note: Make sure to choose a new drive letter that is not already assigned to a network drive. The drop-down menu will display all available letters that are not assigned to a physical drive. Drive letters that are assigned to a network volume will still be listed here. It is also a good idea to assign a drive letter other than a, b, c, or d, as these letters are usually reserved for other system drives.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Yes on the confirmation dialog.
  10. Close the Computer Management window.
  11. Restart your computer.

When i restored my ipod it still had a white screen and i pulg it out from my pc and i pulgd it back and it wont show on mu pc help

    Welcome to Fixya

Looks like the software just hanged-up on you. Try to reset the Ipod by following the procedures below.

    1st option:
Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until the Apple logo appears).
You may need to repeat the reset several times.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.

    2nd option (Disk Mode):
Plug the iPod into a high-powered USB port, let it sit for 2 hours, then disconnect it. If you have a wall charger, plug in the iPod, then follow these steps while it is still plugged in.
Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears
Immediately switch your figures to press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until "Disk Mode" appears at the top.
For a lot of people, this solves the problem. Connect the iPod to the computer and (assuming it shows up) reset the iPod again to get it out of Disk Mode. If at this point you still have the white screen, restore the iPod using the restore function in iTunes under the Summary tab (this will erase everything on the iPod and put it at factory settings).
Note: Do not disconnect or eject the iPod until the store is totally done. After you think it's done, wait another five minutes.

    Thank you!
