As a last resort you could copy the full card to a computer and then delete the pictures on the card and use that again.
Here is the error list from the camera manual.

Yes, DSC-W80 manual says it supports "Memory Stick Duo" up to 8Gb, but there is also a comment that movies with the size set to 640[fine] can only be stored on a "Memory Stick Pro Duo" so therefore they must be compatible.
According to the users manual, the camera does not support above 512 MB cards, however I noticed that there is a firmware update which might address the issue. Go to www.sony.com and support, electronics. Put your model number in the selection box and you'll be taken to the drivers download page.
To make things easier, you should buy a card reader. There are different types.
MS Pro Card Reader - Is ONLY for the sony memory cards
Multi Card Reader - Will read sD, xD, Ms Pro Duo, Ms Pro, Compact Flash, Smart Media, etc.
Sony has a new memory stick out called the memory stick pro duo. Your P73 does not take this. The P73 takes the Memory Stick Pro. Which is a longer stick. You can go out to best buy or ritz camera and buy a card reader (Memory Stick Pro) and stick your memory card into the card reader and stick that into your USB port on your computer. Since it is USB, this will require NO SOFTWARE.
Your camera came out in 2004. Vista did not come out until early 2007. A lot of software does not work with vista.
Most laptops that have a memory card reader will only read these types of cards, without needing an adaptor:
-Sony Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro cards
However, you have a MS Pro Duo card, although it fits into the card reader slot, the card is a lot thinner than what's expected, so the laptop won't be able to read it.
You need to put the Pro Duo card into the stanard size MS Pro caard adaptor. See attached image.
Hope this helps.
i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).
The Memory Stick Pro Duo's are one in the same. (Just out of curiosity, where are you finding them cheaper?)
One note, however; as strange as this is, though the PSP plays mp4s, they will not play mp4s from a memory stick pro duo that comes directly out of your M1 camera... I've tried it, I have both a PSP and an M1. (The PSP will show off your M1 still photos, though.)
Hope this helps!
