I switched from my Asus P5D32-SLI motherboard to an XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard everything has gone fine except that when I plugged in my Logitech headset (A-0356A) it does not find the drivers. The Device Hardware lists "unknown".

  • Hey, I think I have the solution for all you guys. First go to Control Panel <Hardware and Sound<Sound<, then see if your USB headset is listed, If it is then change the Headset to default. If it is not listed then try plugging it into a different USB port then repeat the process.

Hi, i am the one who wrote the initial issue. I finally called VALIO, and had them help me troubleshoot the issue. I was forwarded to a nice young man in the Philipines who got me to update the drivers on my laptop. The problem was not the head set but my less then impressive laptop. My apologies to Logitech.Your headset is a plug and play. Now it works fine. Keep up the good work!!

ClearChat Pro USB headset asks for driver upon install

  1. (Vista) Confirm your system restore point first. It needs to be prior to what you're going to attempt here. If it has a recent restore point, great, but if not, make a system restore before you do this, in case it doesn't work.
  2. In the Control Panel, click System, Advanced System Settings, click System Protection, and click System Restore.
  3. (Optional) Try updating your usb drivers before trying the final step, reinstalling the Vista Service Pack 2.
  4. Here's how to verify if your USB (drivers) in the Device Manager are up to date.
  5. Open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
  6. Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers (usually at the bottom of the device list).
  7. Right-click, on your first USB, Updating Driver Software. It will look for the update or let you know (which may take a bit of time) that it is up to date already. Repeat this process on all the USB devices.
  8. If that doesn't work, try this: plug in your headset, and keep it plugged into the usb.
  9. In your Windows Updates, re-install the Service Pack 2. After Vista reboots your computer and finishes the install, unplug your headset from the USB and then replug it in. What you are likely to see is a Windows message indicating that it sees the software and is installing it (minus the windows pop-up message of "where's the driver disc for it?").
  10. Now the trick is to get the headset to play the microphone through the speakers appropriately!

I just bought a Logitech Clearchat Stereo Headset and am running Windows XP. The mic is not recognizing while plugged into the front or back plugs. Is there something wrong with my soundcard?

You should go to your Device Manager in the "System" category of the Control panel and see if indeed the driver for your mic is present. It will be listed under "Sound, Video and Gaming devices."

I am using the Logitech A-0356A headset. I can hear windows sounds, but I lose the sound in IE and programs, games and incoming voice in ventrilo. This just started recently, I have had the headphones for...

sounds like issues with the codec of the sound card may be interfering with program communicating with other devices, uninstall your sound card and try rebooting the pc. if the sound card is having issues then reinstalling should clear them up.

if issue persists look into updating the sound card drivers through the pc manufacturers websight.

Krackling sound with logitech clearchat wireless at 44khz

Bandwidth sounds logical, so check if your USB ports are configured as USB 2.0 and not USB 1.1 (which is slower).
Apart from that, it could really be a driver compatibility issue. The driver architecture in Vista is different from XP, so even if the driver is accepted, it does not mean it provides the same performance and quality. Best if you can get real Vista (signed) drivers.

Have you tried changing the Audio Device that windows is using?
Under the Sound and Audio Devices in the ontrol Panel. Under the Audio tab, try the Default Device under Sound playback. Change this to the headphones.
